The occasion is the University of Nevada's annual Engineer's Day, set for Saturday, April 13, in the various engineering buildings on the Reno campus. Exhibits and contests by electrical, mechanical, and civil engineering students will be presented for public. Among the exhibits is a huge relief map, some 16 by 12 feet in size, of Reno and surrounding areas. The model duplicates his section of Nevada north to Pyramid Lake and as far south as Carson Valley, west to Lake Ta-hoe.

and east to Stillwater. The project was constructed by electrical engineers to shew how such ultra modern electrical power as solar, atomic, and geo-thermal energy, and steam generation could be applied in Nevada. The electrical engineering students have built miniature power lines, tiny painted buildings, and duplicated the general terrain of Reno and area, even to the natural brown and grey hues of the mountains, and bright blues of Lake Tahoe, Lahontan, and Pyramid Lake. They have laid out possible sites and tiny power plants for distributing each of the four Evenings by Appointment each type power plant will be displayed as well to demonstrate them in greater detail. The civil engineering students exhibit is also a large map, but depicts the Washoe Irrigation Project, replete with decorated terrain.

The colored model shows water-filled replicas of northern Nevada rivers and lakes. Attentive to detail, the students have filled their miniature Lake Tahoe with live fish, have erected a tiny replica of the ski tow at Reno Bowl, and re-constructed Reno with the major thoroughfares, business and commercial landmarks, and residential areas. Exhibits by mechanical engineering students feature a display of old-time autos, modern hot-rods, and Stanley Steamers. The students will exhibit a machine laboratory, and a wide range of vibration demonstrations, such as a model locomotive steam engine in operation, diesel engines, steam generators, and air compressors. Traditional skill contests, slide rule, surveying, drilling, and riveting, will be held between 10 and 11:30 a.m.
