AMUSEMENTS. Concerning "The Two Vagabonds," attraction booked for Tuesday evening, April 3d, the Watsonville Daily Regleter has the following as comment: "The Vagabonde," presented the Abbott Bryant company at opera house last night, was worth whlle. Catchy music, colonial dames, men of the gallant type, and what not that brings one back to the days our One ancestors of tell very about, good were the choruses features. was "Good Night," which was harmonized beautifully, it such an expression may used. The colonial dames sang with lighted candles, Wielr hair done as yore in a splendor whiteness.

There is A stair scene in the last act is novel and the complications that arise because of an old arm chair and its relative positions to various doors create no end of amusement. The nightgown plays an important part in the show. The Temple City Quartet did some admirable work and were encored at least seven times. They do some ex-! ceptionally good singing. There is; little probability that this performance will ever, get the cold shoulder.

A large audience witnessed it, despite the fact that the skating rink in pulling strong these days. The Burch Reiss dog and pony show gave two performances in this city Saturday that were fairly well attended. The show 1s much the same as when it was run under management of Norris Rowe, before the latter firm went into the circus business. Several new features serving of special mention were three excellent athletes upon the swinging rings, an exhibition of balancing given by a lady On a ladder upheld by man, and a good exhibition of tumbling and gymnastic work by the same lady and man. Mayor Beamer returned San Francisco Sunday evening from a trip to and Sonoma county. He accompanied Governor Pardee, Mr. Cooper and Senator Ruah to Sonoma to vielt the site offered for the university farm. The party was royally entertained and banqueted, All the visitors and al number of the Jocal people made speeches. There was some sharp and witty repartee between Judge Seawell and Mayor Beamer, and according to the Examiner's version of it the mayor carried off the honors.

Commissioners Wheeler and Anderson and Prof. Wickson did not take the trip. When Mayor Beamer left the party he was Impressed with the idea that neither Governor Pardee nor Senator Rush will go to Contra Costa county, and the probabilities are that none of the commissioners will visit that site again. When Governor P'ardee was asked when the commission will be called together to decide upon the location he replied that he did not know. No date Das been discussed.
