Youth group members serve spaghetti, entertain educators i "It's an honor to be remembered by kids you had so many years In the past." Joanne Wingler "ft, it "It nice to get back with former students," she said. "I really enjoyed it" Unrue said she knew the hours required to prepare a program with decorations, skit and songs. "It doesn't surprise me this church would be the one to sponsor something like this," she said. Ernest Lifferth, 2nd Ward bishop, said these teachers made a positive impact on the life of someone else. The program was in gratitude for the efforts of those in the teaching profession.

The importance of a teacher in a child's life is understood. Organizer Sherrie White, who leads the Young Women's group, said they put the dinner on the calendar in January, finishing plans in the summer. Then, they practiced the dinner to see if they could do it Young Men's and Young Women's group members are students ages 12 to 18. They attend a three-hour session at ihurch each Sunday morning, devoting the last hour to these groups. By Nancy Wheeler The Republic Well-known retired math teacher Edna Folger was delighted to be invited.

Joanne Wingler, a Southside Elementary School teacher, proudly showed the personal message her former student included with her invitatioa Those teachers and about a dozen others were honored with a thank-you celebration Tuesday from members of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Young Men's and Young Women's groups. The event was a bit more than the proverbial "apple for the teacher." The teens planned' for two months to make the evening special for the teachers they most admired. Guests were greeted by students dressed in their Sunday best, who served a spaghetti dinner and entertained with dinner music. They laughed at a parade of jokes from students who peered from a yellow cardboard visitors to Folger's home at Community Care Center. Although Heather is away at college, Lana continues the friendship with the teacher whose name was synonymous with math at Columbus High School.

Offering a ready smile, Folger said she hasn't helped her young friend with math. But confided she might ask for geometry help soon. Mary Ann Kubo, who teaches Japanese in the Bartholomew Consolidated School said she had three students from the church. She attended with her young son, even though she was concerned about her husband, who was traveling through Japan's typhoons. Patty Unrue said her former Rockcreek third-grader, Jennifer Lykins, is now a high school sophomore.

Sermon of the Week dress will lessen the value of the garment The Church that Christ desires is one without spot and without wrinkle. Wrinkles speak of old age. They speak of tiredness and approaching death.

A wrinkled church that the 'Savior visualizes does not miss the perfection of beauty. Also notice that such a church is simply a heavenly pattern being reproduced on earth. Think of these words carefully: "According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world that we should be holy and without blame before him in love." (Ephesians 1:4) Notice in your reading of the New Testament especially two things: a holy church, and a glorious church. As someone has well said, "A holy church is glory internal. A glorious church is holiness shining out" The supreme purpose of the church is unhesitatingly to lift up Jesus Christ Paul puts the purpose very clearly to Timothy in 1 Timothy 3:15.

He says that is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth," or "that which is the 'pillar" and 'plinth' of the truth." It is the pillar itself and the base-support of the pillar. Just as the pillar and plinth of a monument lift the statue into prominence. But Christ is the truth. Therefore, the purpose of the church is to4ift up Christ The church is to lift up Christ in such a way that the world will want to love and serve him. No church is fulfilling its mission unless it is lifting up Christ And the more perfectly a church is lifting up H4 Sunday School 9:30 AM Morning Worship 10:30 AM Evening Worship 6:00 PM Wed Prayer and Youth 7 PM 376-7833 blemish Christ the more perfect it is.

CHRIST MESSAGE IS OUR SUPREME Christ in all his Vivonderful, satisfying fullness. Our hi- essage-ii Christ and all that is meant thereby. We preach Christ and him crucified. Yes, but we preach Christ and him risen, ascended and glorified. Or to put it a way with which we are more familiar, we preach Christ in his sevenfold fullness: as Savior, Sanctifler, Healer, ShepJ herd, Keeper, coming Lord of his church, and coming king for the world.

We preach a whole gospel of Christ for the whole world THE DIVINE PURPOSE OF THE AGE! Failure to preach Christ by lip and also by life to a dying world is inexcusable. No! NO! Onward, ye heralds of the crimson Cross and tell all men everywhere of Christ and his saving grace and redeeming mercy, according to the eternal purpose. "Then had the churches rest and were edified; and walking in the fear of the Lord, and in the comfort of the Holy Ghost, were multiplied." 9:15 a.m. and 10:35 a.m. Ross Logan, minister. By the Rev. Carl Uebel Bethel Wesleyan Church The pattern of the Church was in heaven before the world was created.

When Moses built the tabernacle, it was built according to the pattern he had seen on the mount That pattern was God-given and perfect When Solomon built the temple, he built according to the plan given to David, his father, by the Spirit of God. When Noah built the ark, it was according to the plan and dimensions which God had given tojiim. A heavenly plan is (always perfect; therefore the church is intended to be perfect It is a perfect church that the Savior desires. But somebody are you ever going to get a perfect church?" No, I think not not on earth. But I definitely affirm this: Aiming at a perfect church will get us nearer to the mark than not aiming at it at all.

The man who aims at a beautiful garden will get far nearer to it than the man who aims at the rubbish heap. Paul said concerning his personal I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, I press toward the mark" (Philippians 3:14) The church we desire is the same church which the Lord Jesus Christ wanted. His plan is our plan for the church. He gives insight into his heart-yearning in John pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from A clear view of the Lord's desire for the church is expressed in Ephesians 5:27: it should be holy and without blemish." The Bible speaks of the church as a bride. The Lord's ambition is to present to himself a sanctified, cleansed glorious church without spot or wrinkle or any such thing.

It is to be a church, holy and without blemish. Observe that the church is without "spot" A spot is not a big thing, but it can spoil the value of big things.
