FCC at the same time did grant this permission to station WGAR of Cleveland. But the agency said there was no connection between the two decisions. Allen T. Simmons of Akron, who had been WADC's licensee for the last 21 years, had told FCC that if his application was granted he planned to construct a new station about seven miles from Akron at a cost of $179,440. The present station is in Tall-madge.

IV REJECTING Simmons' application, FCC appeared mainly concerned with WADC's intention to employ principally the offerings of the Columbia Broadcasting system, with which he is affiliated.
