Zapfe on Nov. 23, 1935, in Jennings County. He died March 5, 1985. Surviving are sons, Albert and John Zapfe, both of Columbus, and Carl Zapfe of Bedford; a daughter, Frances Handt of Co lumbus; a sister, Ethel Singer of Speedway; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by brothers, Carl, Edward and Gilbert May, and a grandson, Robert Handt Charles Edward Coke Lawrenceburg, Ky.

Word has been received here of the death of Charles Edward Coke, 83, of Lawrenceburg, father of Bettie Chambers of North Vernon, who died Dec, 7 at his home. He was- a retired painter, a Kentucky colonel, a member of Sand Spring Baptist Church and the Freedom Sunday school class. Funeral was conducted Dec. 29 at Sand Spring Baptist Church in Lawrenceburg, with the Revs. Terry Wilder and Bernard Perry officiating.

Burial was at Sand Spring Cemetery. Pallbearers were Charles and John Young, Scott Loman, Charles Chambers and Ambrose and S.O. Stratton. Members of the Freedom Sunday school class served honorary pallbearers. A native of Anderson County, he was the son of Sam and Ada Thacker Coke.

He is survived by his wife, Goldie Stratton Coke. Schroer South Road 400W Mary A Schroer, 78, of South Road 400W, died at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Jackson Park Convalescent Center at Seymour. She was the widow of Albert H.T. Schroer, who died in 1984. Funeral arrangements are incomplete by Myers Funeral Service at Reed and Jewell Chapel.
