Page 8 The Salina Journal Sunflower Sunday, November a, 1981 'The Nutcracker' Metropolitan Ballet of Wichita will perform the classic Christmas fairytale, "The Nutcracker" at 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, at the Brown Grand Theater, Concordia. The performance is sponsored by the Lost Creek Arts Council. The play follows the journey of a little girl and her magical nutcracker prince through an enchanted land. General admission tickets are available at $5 for adults and $2.50 for students before the performance and $5.50 for adults and $3 for students at the door. Christmas Forest The third annual Christmas Forest will be presented Friday, Dec. 4, through Sunday, Dec. 6, at the YWCA, 651 E. Prescott. Hours are 7-9 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday and 1-5 p.m. Sunday. Santa Glaus will visit his workshop at the YW from 10 a.m.-noon and 2-4 p.m. Saturday and 2-4 p.m. Sunday. The "Forest" is a collection of Christmas trees which will reflect the many moods of Christmas. A special YW tree, donated by volunteers, will be on display in the YW's lobby during the Forest and will be given away at the close of the forest. The event is free and open to the public. Swedish Supper A Swedish Supper and bazaar will begin at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2, at the Scandia United Methodist Church. The bazaar will open at 4 p.m. and the supper, featuring favorite Swedish dishes, will start at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 for adults «qij| Jl for children under 10. • .V.YiWYiYi •.:•;',' '.'..' s November 29-December S 'Our Town' "Our Town," the classic play by Thornton Wilder, will be given at 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, through Saturday, Dec. 5, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6. The play also will be given at 8 p.m. Dec. 9-12 and at 2 p.m. Dec. 13. All performances are at the Salina Community Theatre, 3rd and Iron. The play is directed by Michael Mauldin, Salina's actor-in- residence. Sylvan Arts & Crafts Festival The Sylvan Arts and Crafts Festival will be from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, at the Sylvan Grove High School. Works of local and area artists will be shown. Don't Miss Those Christmas Pictures! Art Exhibits Contemporary Czechoslovakian Printmakers continues at the Salina Art Center through Dec. 13. The exhibit, organized by the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibit Service, is sponsored locally by the Evans Grain Co. The prints were loaned by the Jacques Baruch Gallery, Chicago. The Art Center, on the Kansas Wesleyan campus, is open from 1-4 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday. Ceramic works by Bob and Inga Bow, Abilene, are on display at the Dane G. Hansen Memorial Museum, Logan, through Dec. 9. Kansas scenes in oil-tempera are featured at the Charles Rogers House Museum Gallery, Ellsworth, this month. Get The Correct Batteries For Your Camera!
