Dunaway, 55, wallowed in gooey pink cake batter and allowed directors to smear various foods on her face until they found one that the film's orangutan, Sam, would lick off. "Blueberry yogurt finally did the trick," Dunaway said in Saturday's Daily News of Los Angeles. The actress admits "Dunston" is a depar DUNAWAY ture from the dramatic films she is better known for, including "Bonnie and Clyde," "Three Days of the Condor," "Chinatown" and "Network." "The impulse was to get into comedy," said Dunaway, who won a best actress Oscar for "Network." "I've always wanted to do comedy: not ex-. clusively, but to have it as part of what I do.". West says America intolerant RIVERSIDE, Calif.—The land of the fre£- and the home of the brave is jam-packed with intolerance, Harvard professor and' best-selling author Cornel West says. "Every American must come to terms- with homophobia, white supremacy, male supremacy" that are "scars and bruises on our human bodies," West said Friday at the University of California, Riverside.' Affirmative action programs are being painted as "one of the most subversive acts" in American culture when in fact they are "a very, very weak response" to; inequalities in the workplace, West said. West has written several noted book§ on race relations, including 1993's "Race Matters." California university students and minority advocates have staged numerous protests in the past year against the state's turn away from longtime affirmative action programs. Musical sets Lewis afire ' COVENTRY, England — Fiery 1950s rock star Jerry Lee Lewis wants a cut of, ticket sales to a British theater production based on his music, i •• "Whole Lotta Shakin'" was made without his consent, according to his lawyers who are trying to prevent its opening at the Belgrade Theatre on Tuesday. "Jerry is absolutely enraged about it," said Charles White, a friend and biographer of the piano-pounding rocker. "We want to get around the table and sort this out."' < * The theater says it's selling tickets worth $3,000 a day and insists the show will go on, claiming it doesn't need Lewis'-, approval.
