THE ANNUAL In a few days the Seniors will be coming around to ask if you want to buy an annual. We hope you will all want to buy one, and also hope you will encourage everyone you know to buy one. This year there will be more pictures than ever, information on all activities and the classes and plenty of ads. This will make a record of this year that you can keep for a long time. So buy an annual as soon as the selling starts.

Farmers should cull every hen or pullet which isn't laying well Hiis means culling 1 out of every five birds in their flocks, Iowa State College poultry specialists say. And they should cull so that the flock will contain at least pullets. TUNING UP At the annual meeting of the Iowa High School Band and Orchestra Association November 7, 1947 it was decided a re-classification of schools on the part of both large and smaJJ high schools should be looked 1 into. A committee was appointed to look into the sit- uaion and study it The committee felt that this proposed plan provides more nearly equal competition in music groups.

Under this plan, soloists and small groups from and class schools would not compete with the soloists and small groups from class schools as under the present plan. All schools shall be classified on the basis of average enrollment for the current and past four years as follows: "Class D. schools having an enrollment in grades 9 to 12 of 1 to 100. ''Class schools having an enrollment in grades 9 to 12 of 101 to 200. "Class schools Jiaving an enrollment in grades 9 to 12 of "Class schools having an enrollment in grades 9 to 12 of 401 or more." In this new classification, if it is passed by a vote of the member schools, the Moravia band will be class instead of which we have been in for several years.

We will compete with schools more nearly our own size. In the past years we have always been one of the smallest schools whose band haa reached state competition, oome of our competitors were Bloomfield, Maquoketai Grinnell, Rnoxville, Indianola, Mt. Pleas- and, Washington. Now we will face only schools of 100 such as Lamoni, Corydon, Seymour, Ankeny and Columbus Junction. BROWSING AROUND Skip: Did you hear about the moron who thought he was Hitler Dean: No.

What about him? Skip: He was. It took me years to comprehend. The fact I now proclaim: Tis better, my child to give than lend, And costs about the same." "The examination," said the professor, "will be conducted on the honor system. Please sit three seats apart and in alternate rows." The world gives its biggest prizes today to those who can do the right thing without being told, but big rewards still exist for those who can do it when told once. Oh what a blamed uncertain thing This gol-durned weather is, It blew and snew and then it thew, And now, by gosh, it's friz.

Mr. Dille: Young is way past midnight. Do you think you can stay here all night? Gene: Gosh! I'll have to telephone mom first! Don't make love at the garden gate; Love is blind, but the 'neighbors ain't. Never shift your tongue into high gear until you are sure your brain is turning over. Joan If you don't stop playing that music box I'll go crazy.

Mary Lou: Guess it's too late. I stopped an hour ago. Men are dumb enough to think they can fool women; and women are smart enough to let them think it. Here's to you, And here's to me, And may we never disagree. But if'we do, The heck with you, Here's to me.
