H-2 Pittsburgh Press, Jan. 25, 1976 In The Wings- 'Unknown' Actor In 2-Character Drama With Jose Ferrer be staged Thursday through Sunday at 8:30 p.m., sponsored by the Pittsburgh Laboratory Theater, 3300 Fifth Oakland. Midnight showings of "Phantom's 1 ment, continuing a mood set by the first season of the Pittsburgh Public Theater. Will Disney has set April 8 as the opening for Little Lake Dinner Theater's 1976 season. He's repeating the original revue (not topical, he emphasizes) which concluded the past season.

"Our Town" auditions are today from 2 to 5 p.m at Robert Morris Colonial Theater, Moon with production dates March 4, 5, 6, 12 and 13. i www i ff i i I I l. you have only to recall "The Fourpost-er." And Ferrer also was connected with that show. Wager has appeared with Siobhan McKenna in "St.

Joan" and with Geraldine Page, Kim Stanley and Shirley Knight in "Three Sisters." He has done the usual actor route of TV soaps, for and commercials, which, he says, allows him the luxury of owning a restored 1820 barn, his home away from home in Connecticut. His resume claims he is fluent in seven languages. He says he is a "faker" and simply has a good ear. As for being involved in an out-of-town opening, Wager says, "It isn't just whether the show will be considered good, bad or indifferent. It's the attempt at doing something new and not imitating what has already been successful in New York." If Wager and Ferrer do make it as an acting team, he says, it could be because they are both frustrated opera singers.

When things get uptight, they just break into an aria. With a premiere set locally and a production of "Follies" scheduled to be open to the public at CMU starting Feb. 5, theater is creating some excite By BARBARA CLOUD "The Interview," which premieres at the Playhouse Feb. 3, came to Michael Wager's attention just a month ago. "I was participating In an evening of excerpts in New York," he said.

"I was in the original 'Brecht on Brecht' and was doing something from that "(Jose) Ferrer was in the audience. The next day I had a call from his manager asking if I had any interest in doing an original with Ferrer. Well, need anybody ask if I would be interested in performing with such an actor? "Then, when I learned it was a two-character play, I really passed out." His actor friends in New York, he says, can't get over his enthusiasm for this experience in Pittsburgh. "It has been the most exciting thing I could imagine and a great deal of it has to do with Ferrer," he said. "We are having a full four-week rehearsal and believe me, it is grueling.

"It's a very interesting play for a lot of reasons. Tom Thomai has an uncanny feeling for drama and for a first play, he builds with bit dialogue beautifully." This Is, he says, "potentially" one of the greatest things to happen to him in his acting career. Open auditions for ''Flower Drum Song" will be conducted Tuesday and Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at Carson Middle School by North Star Players. May 7, 8, 14 and 15 are the performance dates.

Feb. 7 is the performance date for "Me and Mrs. Jones," an original play by Frederick Louis Richardso It's to be at 8 p.m. at Hill House Center Auditorium, 1833 Centre Ave. In the cast are Tredessa Dalton, Ro-chelle Thompson, Birl McCord, Drew King, Pete Strickland, Ellen McCord and Sandy Alexander.

Red Masquers of Duquesne Univer-' sity, as well as Pittsburgh Poor Players, are staging two works of 19th century playwright George Feydeau at p.m. Feb. 5, 6 and 7 im the Union Ball-, room. Thursday productions are free. Additional audition times have been-added for a production of which Turtle Creek Bicentennial Com- mittee will stage April 1, 2 and 3.

They will begin at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at Howard Johnson's Motor Lodge in Monroeville. "I Never Sang for My Father" will be staged by New Kensington Vicic Theat-' er Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Valley High School auditorium. Whether or not the show makes it commercially, it has been a fantastic experience, he says.
