(Photo by James Sloan) Desert land bill passes house WASHINGTON <UPI) - The House Monday passed and sent to the Senate a bill to extend the time within which desert lands might be brought under cultivation in the lower Palo Verde Mesa in Southern California. The bill, introduced by Rep. Pat Martin, R-Calif., would give holders of desertland entries on the public land an additional three years in which to bring it under irrigation. A 1960 act granted a three-year e-xtension but development of the land was held up pending the recent Supreme Court decision in the dispute between California and Arizona over division of Colorado River waters.
