Tuesday, October 13. 1953 Viola Ctili Scouts r Receive Awards VIOLA —The Viola Cub Scout* fttk 27 of Rock Island District held their Soap Box Derby in Miles Memorial Park recently with win* nets as follows: Ronny Werkert and Leo Flaherty, driver and pusher; second place, Peter Knox and Billy Cooper; third place, Jack Brown and Warren Myers; and fourth, Jlmmie Paulsen and Gary Goben. After the derby the group went to the Presbyterian Church Where the Cubs received badges as follows: Jim McCreight, Bobcat pin, Wolf and Bear badge, Service Star, two gold and seven silver arrows; David Noyd, Bobcat badge, Wolf badge, Service Star, one gold arid one silver arrow; Roger Yerkey, Bobcat pin, Wolf and Bear badge, Service Star, two gold and two silver arrows; Terry Miller, Bobcat pin, Wolf badge, Service Star, .one gold and six silver arrows; Earl Shepherd, Bobcat pin.j Wolf badge, Service Star, one gold and two silver arrows; Ronny Werkert, Bobcat pin, Wolf and Bear badge, Service Star, two gold and nine silver arrows; Jack Brown, Bobcat pin, Wolf and Bear badge, Service Star, two gold and eleven silver arrows; Leo Flaherty, Bobcat pin, Wolf and Bear badge. Police converged on the plant and headed for the narcotics vault. They observed a cat purring in a corner. The cat had walked through an invisible ray which touched off the alarm. She is recovering nicely. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Semick and two sons have moved to Chicago.
