Supervisor "Gus Haller of Wood liver township states that he has brought it about that the short road botween East Alton and Wood River shall be chosen as the route for the state highway, road, A resolution to that effect was introduced in the 'county board by Mr. Haller, and idea of making the roundabout road Wood River and East Alton, has been abandoned.

Library Board Hay Started Canvass for Books. A canvass tor books for the public librarp has boon started in Wood River. Cashier Bartlett Wilt Have to Undergo Operation. Tho many friends of If. E. Bartlett cashier of the First Trust and SavInge Bank at Wood River, will be sorry to learn that ho is to undergo an operation for a serious troublo which has beon annoying him for several months. Mr.

Bartlett was to have been operated ou this weok, but is unable to stand the operation now, and it was deferred one week. Building and Loan Attached for Carpenter's Wages. Tony Roth a carpenter has attached the Wood River Bullding and Loan association and Joseph Eckman for a wage bill of $55 for wages for working on the Eckman house. The house has been completed and Mr. Eckman recently moved Into It.

Marshal, Brady Accomodates Many Lodgers. Marshall John Brady of Benbow City reports that he has given sleep: ing accomodation in the city hall in Benbow City to 209 men in ten days.
