Interlocking Connections Made For New Track. A gong of workmen is now busy making the proper Interlocking connections for the new C. A. witch track recently put in at Wood River. A derail will also be put in and the movable switch point will have to be connected up with the Benbow City tower, which will throw an additional lever on the towermen in charge of the tower.

Engineer's Estimate For improvements Made. Engineer A. T. McCormick of the village of Wood River is now making estlinates for 11 series of Improvements for the village of Wood River which includes the paving of son avenue. There will also be a great deal of sidewalk laying and curbstono laying to fill in certain gaps where there are no gidewalks and curbstones.

After the engineer's estimate is complete, a meeting of the board of local improvements will be called to consider it, and the proper petition for the work will thon be filed in the courts. Notes. John McGarvey and John Carstens hav: returned from a business trip to Lou's s'ana. Mo. Mra.

G. Hale, the rural tall carrier out of Upper Alton; the people in the territory including the Alton poor farm and adjoining Upper Alton on the northwest corner, are up in arms on account of being annexed to Godfrey townsbip and are raising money to fight the proposttion. Mr. Hale is a property owner in that portion of the old Alton township and he says it is outrage the way the county board has done them. According to this arrangement the children in that locality would brave to go seven miles to school at Godfrey.

Mr. Hale Bays a meeting was held last night and subscriptions have been made by residents out there almost to the amount of one hundred dollars for the purpose of fighting tho change. This was the second meeting the people of that territory have had lately, At the' firet meeting $55 was raised. The people of that place will join with the Wood River people in fighting the case. Dailey Says He Lives in Godfrey.

Assessor J. A. Dailey, of Woodriver township, says he lives in Godfrey. According to Dailey the county board annexed Wood River township to Alton at the first meeting. At the second meeting they annexed Alton to Godfrey so he considers he is a resident: of Godfrey but will assess Wood River Just the same as long as he bas the books.

Funeral of Mra. Walters Tomorrow, The funeral of Mrs. Henry Walters will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the home of WIlL Nevlin on Main street. Charles Walters has arrived home from Milwaukee on account of the death of his mother. Th.

Contractor M. Elder de arrangIng with his men to go to the AmerIcan Bottom with him next Monday morning to start work on the three big houses and two large barns for whicks be bas the contracts. Mr. Elder has been waiting for the weather to settle in order that he might get the work started. It la his intention to get all the buildings under way A8 soon as possible.
