Oct. 17, 1949 RENO EVENING GAZETTE fl Fhcr.3 23411 Clifford Leads Arms Tournament One of the top men who received awards in a small arms tournament for the Far East command in Tokyo, Japan, was Capt. Charles F. Clifford, son of Mrs. Emma F.

Clifford, 118 West Reno. According to an army release, Captain Clifford, who entered military service in 1940, is safety director of the headquarters, Mari-annas-Bonins command in Japan. Examinations Set For Herlong Post Openings in the positions of orderly and kitchen hand at the Sierra Ordnance depot, Herlong, will be filled through open competitive examination, the U. S. civil service commission announced this week.

The position of orderly will pay $1.29 an hour and kitchen hand, $1.25 an hour. Application should be made to the civil service board in Herlong. Junior Patrol For Hawthorne HAWTHORNE, Oct. 17. Hawthorne is to have a junior safety patrolf is was announced this week by John Gallagher, state highway patrolman for this locality, and Joe Collins, chief of the Hawthorne city police force.

The state and local officers are sponsoring the junior patrol in cooperation with local school authorities. Under plans completed to date there will be a crew of eight patrolmen chosen from the upper grades of the Hawthorne elementary school, and it is possible that the program may be extended to include the high school, the officers said. These students will be given a special training course in traffiq control procedure and in traffic laws. Members of the junior safety patrol will be identified by special caps, white belts and badges and all will carry hand-operated traffic directional signals, the officers explained. James Bright, son of Mr. and Mrs. William C. Bright, 1170 Codel way, Reno, was graduated recently from the air force communications school at Scott air force base, 111., it was announced this week. Pfc.

Bright attended high schools in Los Angeles and Fallon and has been on active duty with the air force since his enlistment in September, 1948. India Premier Wearies of Tour NEW YORK, Oct. 17. Mr. Davey made two bequests to individuals. Fred Menke, Los Angeles, is to get 200 shares of General Motors stock, valued at $10,000, and Dr. and Mrs. Harold Barnard are to get $5000 each.

RESIDUE DIVIDED The residue is to be divided: 50 per cent to the Damon Runyan memorial fund; 23 per cent to the John Tracy clinic in Los Angeles, and 25 per cent to the University of Southern California.
