I now have at least a dozen containers with Just a little bit left. Is there any way of getting it all out? -B.L.F. Sure is — down to the last smidgen! Just turn the container upside down to store, and the applicator ball will always be coated and ready to roll. — Heloise T* £• £• Dear HeloiM: Whenever I oil my sewing machine, I always get oil on the fabric when I start to sew. Didn't you have a tip on how to avoid this in your column? — Betsy Noonal Yup, I did, Betsy. Because it's a question that crops up often, it's one that I've answered in my new problem- solution book, "Help ! from Heloise" (Arbor House), which you can find at your local bookshop or library. The solution is really a snap. After oiling your machine, stitch through a blotter, paper towels, or a layer or two of scrap fabric before you start a sewing project. — Hugs, Heloise •ff £ * Dear HeloiM: To tie a garbage bag without using a twist-tie, bring the two sides together, after gathering them up, and tie a knot — Dorothy Kommer ^ -fr -fr Dear Heloise: To insure the return of your dish when taking food to a potluck or donation dinner, put your name on the bottom with fingernail polish. Hot water will not remove it but polish remover easily will. — Eloise Sams T* -fr * Dear Helolae: Those who, like me, seldom have the time to sit down and write a nice long letter to friends and relatives, can start a letter, dating it at the top, and writing until they run out of time. The next time they have a few minutes free, they can re-read what they have written, date the second section, and continue writing until they once again run out of time. This procedure can be repeated as often as necessary, until all the news has been told. The recipients will not only have a long, newsy letter, but will see for themselves that you have actually started to write to them on several different occasions, and this will more than compensate for the fact that it took so long for your letter to actually get completed. Sure beats apologizing for not writing sooner because you didn't have the time. — Monita Syll •tr -tf -tr Dear Heloiae: When you don't have a small strainer handy, the basket from a percolator-type coffee pot works just as well. — F.R. £ -tr -tr Dear HeloiM: To keep containers of cottage cheese fresher longer, store upside down in the refrigerator. — Terri Liermann Letters to Heloise should be sent to her in care of King Feature Syndicate, 235 E. 45th St., New York, N.Y... 10017. Send your news tip to The Salina Journal, $45 in prizes every week. Dear Ann: Why is it that men feel their lives aren't complete unless they have a son? I've given birth to two beautiful, healthy daughters, but my husband claims I cheated him because I didn't give him a boy. Do you have any idea what it is like to go through 12 hours of rotten labor and see a look of disappointment on the father's face? If I hadn't felt so dragged-out and miserable, I would have punched him out. Any doctor will tell you that the sex of a baby is determined by the father. This means HE cheated me out of a son. But, of course, he doesn't see it that way. Why are husbands so mean? — Down in the Dumps Dear Down: Please don't judge all husbands by that peanut brain you're married to. Many men who have daughters are delighted. Their only "complaints" are mumbled with a smile: "Too many pantyhose hanging in the bathroom and I have to pay for all the weddings." iSr -tr -tr Dear Ann: This morning, when I pulled into a parking lot, a woman directly in front of me drove her car into a space marked with a two-foot-high sign that read, "Handicapped Parking Only." I politely asked her if she had seen the sign. She snarled, "Yes, but I'm in a hurry." How can people be so inconsiderate? Don't they realize it's extremely difficult for a person in a wheelchair or on crutches to do his shopping when he must park several blocks from the store? Could I have made a citizen's arrest? — Boiling in Dubuque Dear Boiling: Those inconsiderate dolts are not in violation of the law, but they should be reminded how fortunate they are not to NEED the space reserved for the handicapped. Just one visit to a rehabilitation center would ann landers change their attitude. They'd never pull that stunt again. we've cooked up tremendous savings during our fabulous llth ANNIVERSARY SALE! selected groups 1 / ff Jeans ................
