A Lane by the members of the church and congregation of Firat Presbyterian church, last evening, was one of the most enjoyable social events In the annals of the and was -attended by the congregation with few exceptions, who wore eager to evince their pleasure in extending a cordial wel-: come to the new pastor and his wite. There were no invitations outside, save to the several ministers and their wives, of the different churoh68 of the city. The reception hours were from! 8 to 10 o'clock and during those hours the parlors were thronged with guests. The Interior of the lower story of the church presented a most charming aspect, being profusely decorated. Southern smilax wreathed about chandellers, door ways and window casements and woven into draperies, made a striking back ground for the color scheme of red, the parlor mantel reflecting from its broad mirror the manifold beauties of its decorations, banked in great deep red cardations, silver candelabra, with soft silken shades of the same deep tint.

Depending from the heavy fringe of greenery at Inter-' vals were red bells, seemingly ready to ring out a glad welcome. Dr. and Mrs. Lane received their new friends, assleted by the elders of the church standing in a semicircle in: an alcove, beneath these swaying bells and drooping smilax. The evening was well advanced before the last of the many had paid their respects to the new pastor and his wife.

The entry to the spacious dining room led into Fairyland in its rosy light filtered throuch, soft red gilk shades.
