Who's News • Al Pacino, still a huge star 25 years after he made his reputation with The Godfather, Is a particular favorite of mine. Has this handsome actor ever married or had children? Does he have a significant Other now? Kate Vann, Broken Arrow, Okla. Pacino, 57, who plays Satan in next month's Devil's Advocate, reportedly has been seeing Beverly D'Angelo, 42, best known as Chevy Chase's costar in the "Vacation" movies—but their reps wouldn't confirm it. Pacino never has married but has been involved with interesting women, including Godfather co-star Diane Keaton. He has a young daughter from a past relationship. Where has Mitchell been lately? Kimberiy Lee, Denver He just started co-anchoring a Saturday morning news- feature show with ex-New York Rep. Susan Molinari. Molinari got all the publicity — she quit Congress to take the job — but Mitchell's the one with TV experience, and he's been on the CBS fast track. The Washington, D.C.-based Mitchell tells us he met Molinari once before, when he interviewed her. Working the Saturday show, which substitutes for cartoons, means he may miss 7-year-old daughter Ashley's soccer games. "Between soccer and cartoons," he quips, "Daddy's striking out." En Vogue, downsized: Maxine Jones, left, Terry Ellis and Cindy Herron. • What's the deal with'90s "girl group" En vogue? They're down to just three funky divas instead of four. Michelle Moreno, El Paso Dawn Robinson left the pop- soul group to make a solo album before work started on EV3, which went platinum last month. The others asked Robinson for a two-year commitment, she couldn't give it, and they split amicably. • I wasn't a fan of the best seller The Morse Whisperer, but I'm curious about Robert Redford's film version. When will we see ft? Rebecca Gray San Angelo, Texas Redford, producer, director and star, has kept it on track for Dec. 12 release in spite of setbacks — for example, shooting of some horse scenes was delayed when the animals got a skin irritation from fake blood. The human cast includes Kristin Scott Thomas and newcomer Scarlett Ii Johansson, 12, who ' had to learn to ride. • Please update us on Frank Sinatra. How Is his health these days? Jean Amato, North Versailles, Pa. At press time, Sinatra, 81, was recovering from a summer hospital stay for heart problems and assorted other health woes. He sees few friends but gets lots of mail from well-wishers. While he was able, he worked with wife Barbara on the newly published Sinatra Celebrity Cookbook, with recipes from friends like Nancy Reagan and Elizabeth Taylor. Proceeds go to the Sinatras' center for abused kids. • I love ABC's The Practice, which made Its season debut a week ago. Star Dylan McDermott Is starUlngly good. What do you know about him? Sandy Zaharoff, west Bridgewater, Mass. Too often mixed up with Dermot Mulroney (My Best Friend's Wedding), McDermott (Steel Magnolias, fn the Line of Fire) brings an intensity to his role as an idealistic lawyer that could make him a household name. That is, if The Practice, one of TV's best new shows, can survive in the 10 p.m. ET Saturday slot, where last season's Relativity foundered. McDermott and his wife have a baby daughter. • Jerry Orbach, a quintessential New York cop on NBC's taw & Order, also sings and dances. Where dW that come from? Beverly Woolley, Monticello, Minn. Orbach is a Tony-winning stage actor. "I wanted to be like James Dean, Marlon Brando," Orbach, 60, tells us. "But I sang and I kept getting singing jobs." He's been in Broadway classics from The Fantasticks to the original Chicago (where he met his wife of 18 years, actress Elaine Can- cilia). But he's been in movies and TV so long now that, young fans know nothing of his theater days,''I've come full circle, from one pigeonhole {Q another." 0 xi wi i K AAX\JC "-"'•• .--•T.'— «--••— v-»™ ii in ii i * • <>' i« iniu'Mr-ii •iiq>-fl>»»i-ii'ii-iHU*VTi«nn"«iTvnnv**<«V Chrysler Corporation is proud to sponsor the special Car and Driver section in USA Weekend's October 12 issue.
