Orgies, the nature of which are unspeakable, were held in Ktliy's undertaking establishment and led to the murder cf Edward F. Osburn by Edward L. When Miss Tremli's name was brought into the case and the details of the unnatural orgies held in Kelly's place were disclosed the prosecution could not hide its surprise. Bohmer and Coleman, two witnesses called on cross-examination, admitted that Miss Tremli, the pretty telephone girl, had been a frequent visitor to Kelly's undertaking parlors, that she had been frequently dared by Pierce to get into a coffin, that she had posed in coffins, that she had posed on slabs used to lay out corpses, but that she had protested posing excepting in a fully attired condition. Osburn, it is said by the witnesses, had coaxed the young woman to disrobe, had dared her to pose in scanty attire.

Pierce, on the other hand, it is said, objected to the unnatural demonstrations and it was for this reason that he and Osburn first had trouble. Pierce is said to have called Osburn severely to account for his actions and the two fought in the undertaking parlors in the presence of Bohmer and Coleman. Osburn was the more powerful, it wa said, and worsted Pierce in the first encounter. When the men met combat the second time the defense claims Pierce resorted to firearms in the defense of himself and the honor of the girl. SAN FRANCISCO, November 20.

Through the return to Francisco yesterday of George Evans, a young attorney, and his bride, who was Mlds Maud Gillentlne of Fort Worth, Texas, his friends first learned of their runaway marriage in Reno, there came to light the romantic story of the dilemma of an eloping couple of Catholic faith, who desired to be wed by a priest of the church, but received, instead of the performance of the rites, a refusal and a lecture on the seriousness of marriage, and an unsuccessful search of the young man for lodging for his sweetheart with the consequent untangling of the web by a civil marriage. The story began in Nevada, when Evans, who had known Miss Gille.ntine for some time, met the young woman in Reno at a house party. It was a case of love at first sight, and when the guests had all gone home and Evans left with Miss Gillentine, presum $50 $50 $50 $75 Tailor Made Suit, $85 Tailor Made Suit, $100 Tailor Made Suit, ment, excitemen and delectation of step you are so lightly taking, and doj men who frequented the morgue in Bijou Theatre Program W. I will not- marry you until you can show me a letter from your bishop, authorizing me to perform the ceremony?" Unable to persuade the priest to marry them, the pair left the house.

Indignantly Miss Gillentlne gathered the folds of her silk dress around her, s.natched her expensive fawn-colored coat from the hall rack, and, without waiting for her husband-to-be to follow her, swept out to the cab. Then began a search for a lodging for Miss Gillentine. She knew no one in town, except the people with whom she was staying, and it was too late, or, rather, too early in the morning for her to return there. Several hotels were trld, but admittance was refused when the circumstances were explained. Finally, after hours of discouragement, a civil marriage was decided upon as the only solution of the difficulty.

They drove to the city hall, where Fva.ns secured a witness, and Justice of the Peace Frank Bell was sent for. There the service, which was short a cab hurried to the residence of Father Tubman, priest of the Reno parish, arousing him from his bed at 1 o'clock in the morning. Father Tubman put his head out of the window. "What is it?" he asked. "We want you to come down and marry us," floated up from tthe front steps.

Miss Tremli, like Evelyn Nesbit Thaw, it Is said, was led into evil and now realizes that all must be told and on advice of friends and counsel for Pierce she has decided to tell the whole truth. Developments in tl-e case yesterday were a surprise to the police, the lii-trict attorney's office and all who hav-3 followed it since Pierce first shot down Osburn and fled the city. When Pierce was arrested on a ranch near Morrison he said that he was certain he would be exonerated before a jury.

He waived preliminary hearings in his defense and insisted that his trial begin in the district court. It was the opinion of all that his defense would be one of killing in the preservation of his own life. It was known that Pierce was crippled in one hand on which he had but two fingers, that he was not a large man, that he had had health and stop that cough with Ballard's Horehound Syrup.
