i, iiii,,. • AI $dil Riverdale Rustlers and St. 'Joe' T rojans held their Christmas party, Award 'night, installation of new officers and initiation of new ; members Sunday, Dec. 9. Evening began with a potluck supper at 6:80 with Shelly Berte, Mrs. Jim Berte, ; Karen Altman, Mrs. Bob . Altman, Sherri, Jean and Marion Bormann and Mrs. Irene Bormann and Mrs. Rita Plathe in charge. Guests were Father Hogan, Father Ulses, Sisters of St. Francis, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Steele, Mr. and Mrs. John Ley and the members of the clubs and their parents and leaders. After the meal the clubs held a joint 4-H meeting. New members who joined the clubs this year were: Lori Salz, Lisa Altman, Nancy Flaherty, Susie Ludwig, Paul Kohlhaas, John Bormann, Peter Bormann ahd Jeff Reding. New officers installed were presidents: Sandi Erpelding and Bob Plathe; vice-presidents: Carol Kohlhaas and Karl Bormann; secretaries: Sherri Bormann and Nick Altman; historians: Jean Bormann and Steve McGuire. Awards were given out by John Ley, county extension director from Algona. Completion seals and pencils were given to George Alt' man, Nick Altmafi, Karl Bormann, Mike Bormann, Steve MeGuire, Ken McGuire and Phil Rediftg. Also to Bob Plathe with a 7 year seal, to Steve MeGuire with a 6 year seal and to Mike and Mark Bormann with 6 year seals. Completion seals and pencils were awarded to Karen Altman, Shelly Berte, and seal and pen te Marion Bormann and Marita Bor-. mann. Marita Bormann also was given the top junior record book award. Sherri Bormann received a completion seal, pen, 5-year certificate and top Intermediate record book. Jean Bormann received a completion seal and pen; Mary Beth Kohlhaas, a completion seal and pen;-fiarb McGuire, a completion seal, pen, 8-year seal, top senior record book, clothing pin, and photrgraphy pin. Theresa Kohlhaas received a completion seal, pen, 7-year seal and Food and Nutrition pin; Carol Kohlhaas, a completion seal, pen and 6-year seal; Ellen Bormann, completion seal, pen, 8-year seal and Home Management pin, and Sandi Erpelding received a completion seal, pencil and 6-year certificate. Mrs. Wilfred Kohlhaas was awarded the silver clover certificate and pin for being leader for five years. All the 4-H girls, including new members took part in two puppet plays, the story of "Scrooge" and the other was the "Birth of Our Lord", directed by Mrs. Bob Altman. Lori Reding played the piano while everyone sang Christmas carols. Bob Plathe spent some time in Germany last summer visiting his sister, Christine, and showed slideT of his travels. Santa came and passed out gifts. Tables were decorated wlttt hurricane lamps, sleigh* filled with little packages, and favors for the Chrictmas tree that were made by the girls- Joy Sktye hoitt slumber party in Hardy home HARDY-Jay Sklye entertained nine of his schoolmates at a slumber party in his home Friday evening in honor of his birthday which was Dec. 15. He was 13 years old. Boys were Ronnie Reichter, Goldfield, Doug Martin, Terry George. Dennis Prilipp, Randy Kraft, Ricky Nelson, Lloyd Poutre, Regi Coen and David Anliker. Mr. and Mrs. Robert McKenna, Mrs. Evelyn Mack, Hardy, and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Weyer, Renwick, spent Friday evening in the Ronald May home at Humboldt in honor OfMr-S, May's birthday which was Inat day, Dee. 14. Since Mrs. Lawrence Marty returned home from the hospital callers in the Marty home the past week were Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Anderson, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Nielsen and Paul, Mrs- Claretta Wtfans, Hardy, Mr. and Mrs-^Henry Marty, Lu Verne, and Kenneth Harvey, Fort Dodge.
