If one wants to sell short, he merely tells his broker to make the sale up the necessary margin, and sirs back to await results. If the stock goes down, he buys back and pockets a profit. Republicans pointed to the defeat of the amendments as repudiation of new deal policies. While the Democrats were reversed on these issues, the Kalodner defeat in Philadelphia stung. them mdst. A close friend of Governor Earle, Kalodner is expected to be given another appointment when his judicial term expires in January. His defeat was attributed directly to a speech Earle made in Philadelphia last week in which he allegedly slurred the war record of Judge Rosen, who lost an eye and an arm in the World War.
