I Times, Corvallis, Oregon, Tuesday, October 15, 1963 Hootenanny Unit To Appear: ABC TV's Traveling Hootenanny will perform Friday -evening at 10 in the Memorial Coliseum as a part of the 1963 Homecoming festivities. The concert will follow the Rook Bonfire and will feature such groups as The Modern Folk Quartet, Lynn Gold, Bessie Griffin and the Gospel Pearls and the Knob Lick Upper 10,000. Tickets for the event are being sold at $1.50 each in MU East Bay. Members of the Hootenanny troupe have all previously been on the actual Hootenanny TV show. Friday's performance will.

present Lou. Gottlieb of the monies, and will feature a wide variety of folk music. The Modern Folk Quartet, a group specializing in American folk music, had its beginning in Honolulu, Hawaii. Individual members have previously performed with such groups as the Whiskeyhill Singers and the New Christy Minstrels. Their current repertoire is a combination of jazz, blues, gospel and folk music.

Lynn Gold is a vocalist with wide experience in television and in night clubs. She began her singing career in Los Angeles and first sang at various colleges southern and California universities In in the area. past year she performed on several TV specials and has made a record album for Warner Brothers records. Friday's Hootenanny will also feature the crowning of the 1963 Homecoming Queen during the intermission. The concert has been timed to allow students to return to their living groups from the Rook Bonfire in order to change into campus dress.

Garden Club Slates October Session By MAE BEYERLEIN PHILOMATH (Special) Philomath Garden club will have its October meeting October 22 at the Joe Gray home, The program will be on spring bulbs, with Mrs. Arthur Hoyt leading the general 1 discussion. Mrs. George Johnson, and daughter, Diana, with Bob Fodge made a trip to Davis, last week to take Diana's horse to the University of California Experimental Veterinarian Clinic. The horse had en its leg by catching the in a fence.

Dr. J. D. Wheat operated on the horse's knee, removing some bone and putting in a metal screw. Dr.

Wheat will be conducting the eighth annual Horseman Shortcourse November 16 and 17 at OSU. They expect to return for the horse in about a month. Mr. and Mrs. Larry Lewis of Fairbanks visited at the home of Mrs.

Elsbeth Gredig from Friday night to Sunday. Mrs. Lewis is the former Elsie Gredig, and granddaughter of Mrs. Gredig. They are now making their home in Longview.

Willamette Valley Pony club will meet Saturday night at the fairgrounds, for practice and play. The Club meets every first and third Saturday in the month. Mr. and Mrs. Merle Davis, new owners of the Dairy Queen, have moved into the house at 367 East main street, where the Bledsoes formerly lived.

Mr. and S. R. Mosier of Elk Grove, are visiting their daughter, Mrs. Cecil Young and other children in the area.
