D-4 Pittsburgh Press, May 24, 1981 Fernando Falters, But Dodgers Win te? si? iPw ill vr CINCINNATI (UPI) Paul Mos-kau walked in two runs and Ken Landreaux followed with a two-run single in a four-run 10th inning, giving the Los Angeles Dodgers a 9- 6 victory over the Cincinnati Reds yesterday despite a shaky outing by Fernando Val-enzuela. Valenzuela ielded eight its and four earned runs, walking six and striking out three. Moskau (1-1) retired the first batter in the 10th and then gave up singles to Ron Cey and Pedro Guer- UPI Talephoto Driven into the dirt by Expo catcher Gary Carter, Cubs' Bill Buckner is out at the plate on close play in the sixth. Win field's Homer Nijs Indians, 3-2 NEW YORK (UPI) Dave Winfield bit a two-run homer in support of Dave Righetti's first major-league victory last night, giving the New York Yankees a 3-2 decision over Cleveland despite a triple play by the Indians. Winfield hit his fourth home run of the year, and first at Yankee Stadium, off Rick Waits (4-3) to cap a three-run third inning.

Dennis Werth singled and scored on a double by Larry Mil-bourne. One out later, Winfield drilled a 2-2 pitch into the lower left field stands. Cleveland scored in the singles to highlight a 15-hit attack and lead the Baltimore Orioles to a 9-2 victory over the Detroit Tigers. DeCinces followed a John Lowenstein single with two out in the second with his first home run of the year and hit his second homer after Gary Roenicke doubled leading off the eighth. Eddie Murray led off the sixth with his fourth homer of the year and knocked in Ken Singleton, who had tripled to open the fourth, with a groundout Al Cowens tripled with one out in the third and scored Detroit's first run as Alan Trammel! grounded out.

Steve Kemp hit his third home run of the season to start the eighth. Red Sox 8, Brewers 1 MILWAUKEE (UPI) Dave Stapleton drove in three runs and Jerry Remy extended his hitting streak to 16 games to give the Boston Red Sox their sixth straight victory, an 8-1 decision over the Milwaukee Brewers. The game was delayed by rain for 56 minutes after 5 innings. The Red Sox scored an unearned run in the first on singles by Dwight Evans and Carney Lansford and an error by first baseman Cecil Cooper. Dave Schmidt led off the second with his second homer of the season and the Red Sox added another run in the inning on singles by Reid Nichols and Remy, a walk to Evans and Stapleton's sacrifice fly.

A's 3, Blue Jays 2 OAKLAND, Calif. (UPI) Rickey Henderson drove in Mitchell Page with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 15th inning to give the Oakland A's a 3-2 victory over Toronto. Luis Leal (2-5), who had retired the first nine batters he faced, walked Page to lead off the inning. After twice failing to advance Page with a bunt, Rob Picciolo singled. Snooty Babitt then bunted safely, loading the bases and setting the stage for Henderson's fly to center.

With Barry Foote on second and Graig Nettles on first, Bucky Dent grounded to third baseman Harrah, who stepped on third to force Foote for the first out and then relayed the ball to second baseman Alan Bannister, forcing Nettles for the second out. Shulock ruled that Nettles, in sliding into second, threw a rolling block at Bannister. Dent was called out at first on Nettles' interference to account for the third out. Wilson, who was 0-for-6 at the time, then rapped a Don Cooper (0-3) pitch over the head of Minnesota shortstop Pete MacKanin for only his fourth RBI of the season. Kansas City's previous record scoreless streak was 26 innings, set in the Royals' first season in 1969.

Orioles 9, Tigers 2 DETROIT (UPI) Doug DeCinces hit a pair of two-run homers and Rich Dauer stroked four Rozelle To Face More Fire In Suit LOS ANGELES (UPI) NFL Commissioner Pete Rozelle, who has been defending the league against a multi-million-dollar antitrust suit brought by the Oakland Raiders and the Los Angeles Coliseum, will be back on the stand Tuesday. After the three-day holiday weekend, Rozelle will return to the witness stand to be questioned about his and the league's attitudes and actions involving Oakland managing owner Al Davis. Raider attorney Joseph Alioto kept Rozelle under attack for about six hours at the start of testimony in federal court Thursday and Friday. OO singles in the seventh inning and Ken Reitz added a two-run double in the eighth to lead the Chicago Cubs to a 6-4 victory over the Montreal Expos. It was only the Cubs' seventh victory in 35 games.

Louis Cardinals to an 8-2 victory over the New York Mets. Oberkfell singled in two runs in the first inning and Tenace followed with an RBI double that gave the Cardinals a 3-0 lead. The Mets cut the margin to 3-1 in the second on Pete Falcone's RBI groundout but the Cardinals got that run back in their half on Keith Hernandez's RBI single off Falcone (1-2). St Louis increased its lead to 6-1 in the third when Mike Ramsey drove in a run with a single and later stole home on the front end of a delayed double-steal. Braves 7, Padres 6 ATLANTA (UPI) Rufino Linares singled in Rafael Ramirez from second base with one out in the 11th inning to give the Atlanta Braves a 7-6 victory over the San Diego Padres.

With one out Ramirez doubled to left off loser Gary Lucas (3-5). After pinch hitter Bill Nahorodony was intentionally walked, Linares then singled to right to make Rick Camp (4-1) the winner. The Braves tied the game, 6-6, in the eighth. Dale Murphy led off with a single off reliever Tim Lollar and went to second on a sacrifice by Chris Chambliss. John Littlefield then came in to pitch for the Padres and one out later uncorked a wild pitch, allowing Murphy to score.

Astros 5, Giants 3 HOUSTON (UPI) Cesar Ce-deno and Alan Ashby drove in two runs each and Bobby Sprowl added a single RBI to pace Houston to a 5-3 victory over San Francisco. The Astros took an early lead in the first when Terry Puhl drew a leadoff walk, stole second, was sacrificed to third by Craig Reynolds and scored on Cedeno's sacrifice fly. Puhl and Cedeno also teamed for the Astros' second run in the third when Puhl doubled down the right-field line, went to third on a ground-out and came home on Cedeno's single off Giants' starter and loser Ed Whitson, 1-5. San Francisco cut the lead with a run in the fifth when Enos Cabell doubled and scored on Darrell Evans' single. Houston, however, bounced back with a pair in the bottom of the inning after Jose Cruz singled and Art Howe walked.

With two out, Alan Ashby doubled past first base, scoring Cruz, before Rafael Landestoy was intentionally walked to load the bases. Sprowl, who relieved starter Vera Ruhle, came through with his first hit of the season, a single to left, scoring Howe.
