Deborah Koons Garcia, the rock musician's widow, and David Hellman, his lawyer, announced Monday that they had hired the Beverly Hills-based William Morris Agency to market Garcia-related products. "They have to be compatible with what Jerry would think was appro- priate," Hellman said. "We want a long-term plan. We don't want to exhaust all possibili- tics right away," he said. Today's birthdays Actor Kevin McCarthy is 82.

Former Illinois Congressman John Anderson is 74. Comedian Harvey Korman is 69. Actress Claire Bloom is 65. Author Susan Brownmiller is 61. Actress Marisa Berenson is 48.

Actress Jane Sey-, mour is 45. Singer Melissa Man- Chester is 45. From wire services Prince weds his Mayte, a 22-year-old dancer The artist formerly known as Prince returned to his hometown of Minneapolis and his given name to marry his backup dancer on Valentine's Day. Church workers were not allowed to watch the 40-minute candlelight service in the sanctuary, which was decorated with pink and white roses. Up until the last minute, the singer's publicists had insisted that he would marry his 22-year-old bride in Paris.

But a Minnesota marriage license and the fact that Americans are required to live in France for at least 45 days before obtaining a marriage license there seemed to indicate otherwise. The marriage license was issued to Prince Rogers Nelson, who prefers to be known by a sign that merges the symbols for male and female, and Mayte Jannell Garcia, a native of Puerto Rico. Four years ago, Prince chose Mayte, pronounced MY-tay, for his band, the New Power Generation. "It's a broad-based effort to obtain Mr. Kaelin's knowledge of Simpson's demeanor and activities," said lawyer Michael Brewer, who represents Sharon Rufo, Goldman's mother, in the wrongful-death lawsuit filed against Simpson. "We want to see whether he can help us understand the relationship between the Simpsons when he knew them, whether he can tell us about abuse and about the events of June 12th," he said.
