Press Harrisburg Bureau HARRISBURG Auditor General Al Benedict vowed today to stay in the state treasurer's race, accusing those who want him to abandon his candidacy "cowardice." Benedict is the Democratic candidate in the Novemeber election for treasurer against incumbent R. Budd Dwyer. question the motives of those who would deny the Democratic voters of this commonwealth the right to select the candidates of their own choosing," the auditor general said in a statement intend to be a successful candidate this year as well as when I run for re-election in 4 years," the statement said. state Democratic Party leaders including Philadelphia Mayor Wilson Goode and state House Democratic Leader James J. Mr. Hartland, 79, also had been employed by New Filtz Hardware Store in Irwin, Westmoreland County. He was a member of Primitive Methodist Church, Westmoreland City, where he served as a Sunday School teacher and superintendent He also was a lay minister, station Stewart and trustee at the church. Mr. Hartland was a member of Jeannette Masonic Lodge 750, Scottish Rite, Lodge Valley Pittsburgh, Syria Temple, Greensburg Caravan No.

8, Norwin Area Men's Prayer Fellowship, and Irwin Kiwanis Club. He also was a charter member and first vice president of the American Association of Retired Persons, Irwin Chapter 70. Surviving are his wife, Gerda a son, William H. of North Huntingdon, Westmoreland County, 2 ters, Lois J. Harvey of Sedalia, and Carol Rudolph of Pittsburgh; a sister, Elizabeth Lenhart of Redding, 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Combs Clifford W. Combs, a chief clerk of Pittsburgh Lake Erie Railroad, died of heart disease yesterday at his Coraopolis home. Mr. Combs, 87, of Pear Orchard Drive, was a member of the Odd Fellows Club, Coraopolis, and Hebron Presbyterian Church, Clinton. He is survived by his wife, Gladys; a son, Wendell of Sewickley, 2 daughters, Dorothy Trimble of Moon and Jean Nussbaummer of Sewickley; 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Amson Robert V. Amson, who served as controller and treasurer of Comaco Metals Co. for 15 years, died yesterday at his home on Forbes Avenue, Squirrel Hill. Fuellgraf, founder of Fuellgraf Electric in Butler, Butler County, died of a heart attack Sunday at Butler County Memorial Hospital. Mr. Fuellgraf, 76, of Sunset Drive, Butler, started his business in 1946. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
