Singer-songwriter Wynn Stewart, whose honky tonk and ballad sounds led to a flow of country chart hits, has died after suffering a heart attack. He was 51. Stewart died Wednesday at his home in Hendersonville, a suburb of Nashville, on the same day he was to leave for a four-day performing tour in Louisiana and Texas, said his brother-in-law, Ray Mullins. In the early 1960s, he opened a club in Las Vegas and appeared on his own television show, then moved to California in the mid '60s to tour with a new band, the Tourists.

Stewart wrote "It's Such a Pretty World Today," which hit No. 1 in 1967, as well as "Love's Gonna Happen to Me," "'Cause I Have You," "Something Pretty," "In Love," "World Wide Travelin' Man" and "It's a Beautiful Day."
