Detroit, Nov. 2. Chevrolet Motors reports from its dealers on retail deliveries for October show 112,064 as compared with 50,747 in October of last year. This brings Chevrolet sales to more than 900,000 for the year to date, which indicates that Chevrolet is carrying out its million-car program for 1927. October was the largest retail month in the history of Chevrolet, exceeding even April of this year with its 96,803 retail deliveries.

Even though Chevrolet enjoyed this unusual business, their dealers report but small increases in used car stocks because there was a correspondingly large movement of used cars at retail along with the new cars. During the month of October R. IL Grant, vice president in charge of sales, visited many parts of the United States and reports business conditions good generally. "In the southeast and southwest business was exceptionally good, due to favorable cotton and tobacco conditions," Air. Grant declared.

"Business in the northwest was excellent on account of the great success of the wheat crop, and business in the middle west is improving as a result of the corn crop being larger than was expected." 06 ALTTO radiator and fender repair man wanted; steady work; call in person- car ttttsburgh Auto Rebuilding Co, West View, first floor Brant's New Garage JUDGING by the heavy bank clear-'ings. business conditions in the Pittsburgh district are, at least, fairly satisfactory. Exchanges that passed through the Pittsburgh Clear-House last CLEARINGS SHOW month amount-HEAVY INCREASE, ed to 881.77. These compare with but $732.487,85.,15 for September. $737,73356.77 for August and $761,736,292.18 for July.

In other words, November clearings exceeded those of the three preceding months by more than more than $27,000,000 and more than $3,000,000, respectively, reckoning backward. Also, last month's clearings were heavier than those for November of the 1926, by more than $13,000,000. Leading economists estimate bank clearings represent barely 50 per cent of the total business transacted, in any district where considerable cash is "used, as in this city, in defraying the cost of purchases, more especially the smaller amounts, such as those made at retail establishments. Also it must be taken into account that quite a large volume of checks is not cleared, inasmuch as both the payor and the payee deal with the same banking institution, in many cases. On this basis, which accounts for anywhere from $100,000,000 to it may readily be calculated that the actual volume of ordinary business transacted in the district served by the Pittsburgh banks, was very close to $2,000,000,000 for the month.

This is quite a respectable sum, by the way. SHORT TERM NOTES. 4) Called 103 16.00 5.50 SALESMEN wanted on salary and commission to visit factories, warehouses, etc. in Pittsburgh and surrounding territory Write A 4. Press office.
