Jailed man gets kidney transplant Miriam Beckeman Miriam McCoy Beckeman, a retired teacher and counselor at Peabody High School, died of a heart attack Thursday at her home on Bartlett Street in Squirrel Hill. Mrs. Beckeman, 73, was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Ascension in Oakland and the College Club.

She was a 1935 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh. Surviving are a brother, William K. McCoy of La Jolla, and a sister, Amber McCoy Shaw of Northridge, Calif. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Church of the Ascension, Ellsworth Avenue and Neville Street.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by John A. Freyvogel Sons Oakland. Burial will be private. Charlotte Lazar Retired dressmaker Charlotte Lazar, 89, died yesterday of cancer at the Riverview Center for Jewish Seniors in Squirrel Hill. Mrs.

Lazar, who had lived on Murray Avenue in Squirrel Hill, was the former owner-operator of the Charlotte Lazar Dressmaking Shop in the former Forbes Building, Oakland. She was also co-owner of Irene Marchbein Dressmaking Shop, Shadyside, for more than 25 years before retirement. She was a life member of Hadassah and the Auxiliary of Jewish Home and Hospital for the Aged, a member of Pioneer Women's Organization, the B'nai B'rith Women's Organization and Anathan House.
