THE HUMBOLDT REPUBLICAN, Humboldt, Imva 6UR SECTION TWO FRIDAY, JUNE 14, 1 946 SOFTBALL GAMES UNDERWAY IN BODE TUESDAY (Byi Mrs. Walter Thompson) first Softball game of tha season was played Tuesday evening on the high school grounds, between the West side farm team and East side town team, which was won by the West side farm team by a score of li to 4. Batteries for the winners were Hemmested and Richard Rossing. For the losers ICspeland and Art Jensen. There will be league games every Tuesday and day evenings, including tho two farm teams and two town teams.

Captains and co-captains of the Farm team Is Frosty Olson and Mark Rolland. The West farm team captained by Clyde Coopsr and Harlan Berge. East town team, Art Jensen and Milt Kinseth and West loWn tea ill, 'Max Shtilton and nn- ane Saatlloff. The league is sponsored by thd Bode community club. Game Tuesday night drew a good crowd.

Thursday night league game between West town and East side Farm teams resulted with the score of 5-4 in favor of the West side town team. Aliss Julia Van Stein of tort Dodge spent the weekend at the Walter Thompson home. Sunday she accompanied the Thompsons to where, they spent the day home of Mrs. George II. services were held In the Lutheran church Friday afternoon for Mrs. Blla KaUinson who passed away nt the convalescent home In Humboldt Friday after an illness of long standing.

She is survived by three sons nnd thrc-e all. of whom were present at which' were conducted by Rev. 0. H. Anderson of Humboldt.

Three sons and three grandchildren served as pallbearers. Skaugstad funeral home of Humboldt was in charge of arrangements with burial in the Bode cemetery. Miss Gladye Trygstad and Harold Rood took placo lust Saturday evening In the St.

Olat's Lutheran church. In Bode, with the Rev. Martin Trygstad, brother of the bride officiating. While Rev. C.

Russell Johnson, the bride's brother-in-law, sang "Jeg-Elsker Deg" Donald Sorlein as head usher escorted the groom's mother, Mrs. Harold Rood of Bode and the bride's sister, Mrs. C. Riis- sell Johnson of St. Paul.

The bride was given in marriage by her brother, Rev. Trygstad. As the couple knelt at the altar Rev. Johnson sang "0 perfect The altar was beautifully decorated with white candles and pink and white peonies. The bride was attired in a floor length white marquisette dress With, sweeping train.

The dress was fashioned -with a high neck lint and a collared fyoke trimmed with scallops and silk braid, fne sleeves came to a point at the wrist and the skirt was fastened at the waistline In a smocking effect. The finger tip veil Wjis Blyslan net, and was fastened to her head with a sweotheart crown The groorii wore a light grey conventional suit. Alice Trygstad, bride's sister, was maid of honor and was also dressed In white. Eijrl Opheim was best man. Noel Trygstad, nephew of the bride was ring bearer and the two flower girls, Virginia Johnson, niece of the bride, and Glenda Rood, cousin of the groom wore long blue pink dresses.

After the ceremony a reception was held in the church parlors to one hundred relatives and friends. Refreshments were served. The dining room was also profusely decorated with peonies and candles. Roger Ophdim of Ames attended the Rootl-Trygstad wedding Saturday- evening. Mr. and Mrs. Pat Pederson spent the weekend at the home of his mother. Hergina Johnson.

Hubert Kinseth of Fort Dodge issisted at the Leo Kinseth store Saturday. Air. and Airs. Alilo Smith have eft for Iowa City where Mr. Smith vill enroll at the State University, is a veteran, in commerce und T.

II. Berge went to Rochester. Saturday for medical treat- nent at the Mayo clinic. He was iccompanied there by his son, Har- Dld at Bode, and Earl of Algona. Mrs.

Berge, Mrs. S. 0. Tonderum nnd Ernest Berge went up later. The boys have returned leaving their fathei somewhat improved, nit Airs.

Berge and her daughter, Airs. Tonderum remained there. Air. and Airs. Lee Lybarger have returned from attending a Bankers Life Insurance school in Alason City last week.

Phillips of Bradgate went to Fort Dodge Sunday wheve they attended graduation exercises at the Fort Dodge high school for their niece and granddaughter, Miss Frances Phillips who received her diploma as a graduate nurse from Mercy hospital. Following a bounteous picnic dinner a ball same was soon in progress and there were supervised games, for the children.

Officers of th Oleson clan for this year are Maurice Aas- helm, president; and Mrs. Cnrsyle Halsrud, secretary nnd treasurer. It was decided-to hold a similar meeting next year. Curl J. ('orllcii Dies Carl Sorllen of St.

Paul, Minnesota, died Friday, May 31, after a period of illness. Air. Sorlien was born at' Bode, Iowa, February 1887 and was 59 years of age when he died. He attended the public schools in Bode, Luther College In Decorah and Mankato Business college, at Mankato, Alinn. Later he opened a general nier- tosen, Iowa, and Bergen, N.

Dak. Ho was employed in banks at At- chandlse store at Rawson, N. Dak. Until ill health caused his- retirement, about a year or more preceding his death, ho was employed as maintenance supervisor with the Northwest Airlines in the Twin Cities. i On March 23, Iftll, ho was married to Inga Kinseth of Rode, Iowa.

He was a member of the Lutheran church. Funeral servlcf-s were held in the Lislo-Wold Funeral Home In St. Paul on Tuesday, June 9. with Rev. Kurth Kern of St.

Paul, of-1 delating. Rev. a. O. Sorlien of Osage, Iowa, who was recently dis- chargod from the Navy after service as chaplain, also spoke at the service.

Pallbearers were Henry Lorge, St. Cloud, and five brothers, i Henry of Alinot N. Albert J. of Bode Iowa; Oscar C. of Alason City, Iowa; Alagnus of Bode, rr: and Leon C.

of Fargo, N. Dak. Burial was in the North Lawn cemetery in St. Paul. Surviving are the wife Inga, who i employed as manager of the rapery department of the Golden Rule Store in St.

Paul, and two aUghters, Inez, who is Mrs. Harild Holm of Bremerton, ml Beflyn who is Mrs. Roy Pru- len, of St. Paul; and one son, 1st. Carl Jr.

of the armed forces. Also surviving are one sister, N'elle. who is Airs. Henry Lorge of St. Cloud, and six brothers.

Henry. Albert, Oscar, Alagnus, Olvin and Lion. Preceding the deceased In death are his parents Air. and Airs. John H.

Sorlien, four sisters and three brothers. Other 7 A11 members of the family of the late Airs. Ella Falkoiisen have re- turned to their various homes with the exception of Airs. Howard Raymond who came by plane from her hcme in Sacramento, and is awaiting plane reservations to return. Those who have returned to their homes are Air.
