Miss Adams and Sherrod Uf Courtesies Scheduled For Brides-Elect irownfield First Heloise Dear Helolsc: My history ciass has been assigned to do what a newspaper have been like during the Civil War period. I chose to do "Hints Prom Heloise." I would like to know if you could give me some hints that you might have had for the people during mat time? Sundru Gosh, Sandra, you know I'm not all that old! But funning aside.

I'm going to ask my mother and sec if she remembers what hints from her moiher -and her grandmother taught her before ail our modern appliances came in. Sometimes things go in cycles, and hints that have been out of use for 100 years suddenly pop up and arc just the thing for NOW! In the meantime, all you gals put on your granny jflasses and your thinking bonnets, and see what you can come up' with Right now I'm trying to remember Xhe one about eggs to last the winter in something like isinglass what was that? I'm iust not sure So come on, friends, let's get together this week at our coffee Watches and sec what our neighbors can come up with. Do hurry and drop me a line. I can hardly wait to read your letters and see what hints we smart 20th century housewives are missing. Heloise Heloise: Scrapbooks and family records are history.

You never start one without the thought that it will fall into the hands of someone else- some day. And "someone else" will have to be disappointed to know that his forebear's wedding was held "yesterday" or thai the honors bestowed on a distinguished relative i three columns of type in the paper were a feature of "Thursday's" ceremony. So, Heloisc, please tell readers not to bother taking scissors in hand to clip an article from the newspaper without also having pen in hand. The pen is to write en the clipping the date of the article and the paper in which it appeared. AVhiie you're at it.

mark on the back of every photograph or snapshot you send to someone else, the name of the person or people in it and the year. They might make history some day and what's history without dates?
