The new ramp will allow motorists to escape the rail station traffic while giving train commuters direct northbound access to the Parkway. Meeting is planned on art, music classes Lakewood man's stunt a Press Shrewsbury Bureau RED BANK Parents who want the Board of Education to reinstate art and music classes canceled last year will meet tonight with members of the board's community relations committee. The meeting, scheduled for 9 in the library of the Primary School, River Street, was prompted by a parents' petition containing 69 signatures presented to the board last month. The parents want the district to bring back art, music, library and physical education classes for half-day pre-kindergarten and kindergarten pupils, said parent Joanne Pierson, Spring Street. Mrs.

Pierson said discussions among parents of preschoolers made it clear many were upset over the class cancellations. The meeting will be "an opportunity for the parents and interested people to get some response from the board," said Board Vice President Ralph Tram-barulo, chairman of the Community Relations, Policy and Curriculum Committee. "But the development came anyway," he said. Crabiel also commended the federal and state funding behind the project, adding "we were looking for the industries in the area to help, but they didn't" DOT officials said the project, although in its final phase, became one of the first programs to be funded under the new state Trust Fund about three years ago. Mrs. Gluck, who emphasized the role of the Trust Fund yesterday, has lobbied to get the program renewed for four years after the department announced it will run out of the original funding a year early. "The purpose is to get information and make recommendations to the full board," he said. "The committee can't act on anything." After a recommendation by Joan D. Abrams, superintendent of schools, the board last year discontinued the classes.

"It was a way to save a little bit of money," said Trambarulo, who could not say how much money was involved. "It's probably not a significant amount." "I don't know if anything can or can't be done," Mrs. Pierson said. "If anything can be done, I'd like that. At least (the board) has shown an interest in hearing our concerns." Mrs.

Pierson, who has an 8-year-old and a 5-year-old enrolled at the Primary School, said she is more concerned that the kindergarten pupils receive library and physical education. "I think that they (the classes) are an important part of my child's early childhood education," she said. "I've always believed that artistic talents are developed at a very young age." Off!
