PAGE 4 RED BANK REPORTER ASBURY PARK PRESS THURSDAY, JULY 8, 2004 Business Local Kfcews Shutterbugs take part in Sea Bright exhibit Yoga expert brings kanna to Red Bank practitioners Marine Park and local churches. It also has presented an exhibit on Ocean Grove. "Simple things can make the best pictures sometimes, things that people know and recognize," said member Janice Grebler, an Oceanport resident. The latest exhibit will feature photos of some of Sea Bright's notable landmarks, such as the old Tradewinds and the old Peninsula House. "I've always enjoyed this kind of photography," said Bill Boyle, an Oceanport resident who has been a member of the group for about 20 years.

"There's something about the challenge of composition, the use of light, and looking for interesting subjects and then trying to use all of that to tell a story." For Grammer, it was her sister-in-law who got her into photography. Since then, Grammer said she has enjoyed taking black-and-white pictures of interesting people and places. "It's just a hobby of mine that I have never stopped doing," Grammer said, "and I just really enjoy being with BY JOE PIKE Staff Writer Jane Grammer enjoys reminiscing of the days when a darkroom was so essential to the art of photography. "There was nothing more fun than going in that room, and trying to get the right balance of light and darkness," said Grammer, a Shrewsbury resident. "It was more involved, more hands- SEA BRIGHT on." mhbm Now, the 84-year-old photographer is adjusting to the times.

"I still haven't totally got a handle on the computers, but I'm still working on it," Grammer said. Grammer is one of the longest-serving members of the Friends of Photography, a group of local photographers who meet about once a month to critique each other's work, and put on exhibits at local venues. The group, which is more than 30 years old, is set to kick off its latest exhibit from Aug. 2 to Aug. 31 at the Sea Bright Library.

The exhibit, like most of the group's work, will focus on everyday life in a Shore town. The group has done similar exhibits in Red Bank about three years, which featured photos of I -7 A yaffil followed by one from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and another from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

All sessions are $40 except for the three-hour one, which costs $55. "Whenever we are looking for someone to be a guest at the studio, we first try to work with them first, exchange ideas and let the person know that we are for free, and then we beg them shamelessly to come to our place," Dubin joked. According to his Web site, Busia was born in Ghana and educated at Oxford, England. He was awarded an advanced certificate for his work in the Iyengar tradition of Yoga. "I think yoga has really evolved," Dubin said.

"When my aunt first started teaching it, everyone thought she was a weirdo, but now so many people have found that it really brings out your spiritual side. "You realize that there is this energy between you and the rest of the world, that your energy can help flowers bloom, can make the waves move." Dancing Foot Yoga and Synapse Studios is in downtown Red Bank. The room has wood floors, high ceilings with fans, large windows and lots of natural light. For more information call (732) 219-6662 or visit www.dan-cingfootyoga.com on the Web. BY JOE PIKE Staff Writer Emily Dubin knows that in the art of yoga, there's always something new to be learned.

And a teacher with 30 years of experience could be the right person for the job. Kofi Busia, RED BANK a Sanskrit hhmbhm scholar who has written a book on the yoga sutras and has taught the art all over the world, will be visiting Dubin and Robin Hertlein Candrea's Dancing Foot Yoga and Synapse Studios next week on Broad Street in Red Bank. "I've been doing this since '96 and I'm still learning something new about yoga," said Dubin, a Fair Haven resident who learned the art from her aunt. "I used to have students come in and say, 'I have pain in my or 'I have pain in my back, how do I take care of and I didn't know the answer. "But the more people you study with and the more techniques you come across, the more you learn." The sessions are slated to kick off July 14 and July 15.

The first session is from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday The July 15 sessions run from 9 to 11 a.m., other photographers and looking at each other's work." A reception will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Aug. 5 at the Sea Bright Library. The public is invited to meet the photographers.
