It has little opportauity, however, to be spoken of us a quality of esteem and affection subsist. ing between human beings, for the simple reason that it is so rare.

There fore it is not much wonder that a word with which so much happiness is con. nected is partially misused in lieu of allowing it to fall into desuetude. The excellent opening attraction for Tyrone's new academy of musio, "'The Witch," as presented by Marie Hubert Frohman aud a strong supporting company, is an historical play fouuded on the Salem witchcraft agitation which marks one of the most important epochs in the bistory of this country and its early settlers. It is a drama of high moral tone and intense Interest, and the management of the new playhouse have been extremely fortunate, even though heavy expense was necessarily incur. red, to.

The senior memof the former firm is now at his boarding house suffering from injuries mysteriously received, and under police surveillance, the result of a forgery which he perpetrated some time ago. Last Tuesday Cushier Kloss learned that Mr. Rex bad not signed his pame to the note at all, and proceeded at once to take action against the offender. It is thought that he had foreseen on Tuesday that his sin would find him out and, in endeavor to escape the law, he probably attempted to board a train ou Tuesday night, and was thrown therefrom some way. Sheriff Iughes was in town yester. day and Cashier Kloss secured an tachment for his bank against the property of the offender.

The bank thus fully secured against pecuniary loss. rience to a nicety. 1 now feel it incum bent me to explain to the people among whom I have made my home aud conducted an honest business for nearly two years. just how misfortune has gotten the upper band when every struggle in my power was made to stem its coming. Nearly two yeara ago, I began in the clothing and gents' furnishing business in Tyrone. Having fully studied the needs of the people of this place in that department of trade, and appreciating that here was a demand for a tirst-class establishment in this particular line, my store was stocked with goods which attracted and held a large trade, and the business prospered in a most en.

couraging manner. With the excellent patronuge that had been kindly accorded me and which strove to deserve and maintain. I pre. a heavy fail knew Chat, with a favorable season, a large stock would be absolutely necessary and a paying investment. I also knew that.

The season proved contrary to all expectation, business was unusually dull.

and I found myself with an im. menso stock. while only large sales could enable me to meet the demands of my creditors. Did they see through, as they had promised No: but as soon as it. appeared that 113 a Maira were straitened, a scrambie en.

Only one recourse was left IDe, and an assigowent was made, while a few friends who had me in business were protected preferences. The legal process of assignment being completed, withont was left without capital and business name. Crowding upon this trouble, has been the whole catalogue of misfortune. The sudden death of a beloved sister was a most overwhelming sorrow that met 111e when I was still in business straits.

A tire at Hazleton caused the loss of sev eral hundred dollars worth of stock. A robbery at my home left me loser of a large amount of personal possessions. Theft, breaking of glass, to sharpen my bed of thorns.
