Nielsen Co. I I WBBSSSSSSSaSSSSSSSSSBSSSSaSSSSSSJBSSSBBSSSSSSSSSjSSai By Robert Bianco The Pittsburgh Press ZZ heavenly rehash time on WPTT next season. The independent station has picked up the rerun rights to "Highway to Heaven," the 1984 Michael Landon series that had a four-season run on NBC. Along with the hash, you'll get the slash and trash of "Friday the 13th: wThe Series," which has moved over to WPTT from WTAE. And you thought TV wasn't eclectic.

Joining "Highway" and "Friday" on WPTT's fall schedule will be syndication series "Ministers Today," with John Schuck and Lee Meriwether in the Munster roles originally played by Fred Gwynne Yvonne DeCarlo; "The Subway Network," an "SCTV-style satire; and "Night Music," the David San- born-hosted music program once known as "Michelob Presents Sunday Night." Time slots have not yet determined. The station also has picked up one of this season's more unusual syndicated offerings, "American Gladiators." This weekly one-hour sportsentertainment show pits six contestants against six regular "gladiators" irt a coliseum setting. (The losers don't die, although the show very well may.) Joe Theis-; mann and Mike Adamle will host. It should be an interesting, com-; petitive fall on local TV, especially if WTAE decides to go ahead with a 5:30 p.m. newscast.

WTAE has "Who's the Boss?" and "Growing I Pains" available for its afternoon i sitcom block, and has agreed to run "Entertainment Tonight" in the 7 to 8 p.m. prime-access slot most likely at 7:30, where it would replace the canceled "Win, Lose or Draw." (CBS), "Nightingales" (NBC), "A Man Called Hawk" (ABC) and "The Van Dyke Show" (CBS). NBC swept the worst movie, special or mini-series category, no small achievement this year. The network's "Devil Worship, Exposing Satan's Underground" was first, followed by "Full Exposure: The Sex Tapes" and "Goddess of Love." I have no real problem with the critics' choices. (Well, "Wiseguy" is a puzzlement, but I can live with it.) My own ballot had many of the same programs, though in somewhat different order.

In case you're wondering, and even if you're not, my Top 10 series were "thirtysomething" (ABC), "Designing Women" (CBS), "The Wonder Years" (ABC), "Murphy Brown" (CBS), "Roseanne" (ABC), "China Beach" (ABC), "Molly Dodd" (Lifetime), "The MacNeilLehrer News-hour" (PBS), "Cheers" (NBC) and "60 Minutes" (CBS). My worst series were "Nightingales" (NBC), "Morton Downey" (syndicated), "Live-In" (CBS), "Inside Edition" (syndicated) and "America's Most Wanted" (Fox). For worst special, movie or mini-series, I had Guts and Glory: The Oliver North Story" (CBS), followed by "The Sex Tapes" and "Devil Worship." My choices and the poll's choices for best special were the same. RIGGED "MYSTERY" Diana Rigg has replaced Vincent Price as the host of PBS's "Mystery." Price, who joined the show in 1981, announced his retirement at the end of the 1989 season. (Robert Bianco is The Pittsburgh Press TV-Radio editor.) Michael Landon New life in syndication Associated Pratt WPGH will add "Mama's Family" and "Leave It to Beaver" to its afternoon schedule in the fall, and it seems likely WPXI will move "Ger-aldo" to the afternoon as well, replacing it in the morning with the new Joan Rivers talk show.

KDKA's current afternoon lineup seems a safe bet to return intact. I just wish somebody would show "The Mary Tyler Moore Show," but I know that's not very likely. "Mary" is only showing in 19 markets nationwide, which is kind of depressing if you think about it. So let's not. "DYNASTY" DIES Bad news, "Dynasty" fans.

ABC says the proposed two-hour "Dynasty" movie that would have wrapped up the show's dangling story lines "appears unlikely due to the difficulty and cost of reassembling the all-star cast." Norman Henry, former senior vice president of production at Aaron Spelling Productions, told Broadcasting that ABC balked at the movie's estimated $3.8 million salary-driven budget. Just like ABC to be Dyna-sore-heads. We'll just have to make up an ending of our own. WINNING "WONDER" ABC's "The Wonder Years" was named TV's best series by Electronic Media's semi-annual critics' poll, making it the first ABC series to top the 5-year-old poll. CBS's "Murphy Brown" was second with four-time RIBC hoc year at top NEW YORK (AP) NBC completed a 52-week sweep of Nielsen ratings despite CBS's broadcast of the final game of the Detroit Pistons' sweep of the Los Angeles Lakers for the NBA championship.

ABCs "Roseanne" was the No. 1 show last week, but NBC had an average, prime-time rating of 11.6. CBS had 10.2 and ABC 9.2. NBC's average rating for the 52 weeks was 14.4. CBS and ABC tied with 11.6.

NBC has had eight of the Top 10 shows 10 times during the past year. "Cosby" was first in the Nielsens for 16 of the 52 weeks, but ranked second behind "Roseanne" for the year and third behind "Roseanne" and "Cheers" last week. In a demonstration that time period makes the show, ABC's "Have Faith" tied for 15th when it was on Tuesday behind "Roseanne." But when it was moved into ABC's low-rated Sunday lineup, it fell to 76th and was the lowest-rated network show. "NBC Nightly News" continued to lag in news ratings, even with anchorman Tom Brokaw in China. "CBS Evening News" and "ABC World News Tonight" tied for first place winner "L.A.

Law" dropping to third. The rest of the critical Top 10 was "Roseanne" (ABC), "thirtysome-thing" (ABC), "Designing Women" (CBS), "Cheers" (NBC), "Wiseguy" (CBS), "China Beach" (ABC), and "The Tracey Ullman Show" (Fox). "Cheers" takes the longevity prize: It's been in every Top 10 since Electronic Media started polling. The poll of 28 newspaper critics, myself included, chose CBS's "Lonesome Dove" as the best movie, special or mini-series by a wide margin, followed by ABC's "War Remembrance" and NBC's "Roe vs. Wade."
