Grove City (0-2) got its touch down on a 6-yard pass from Dave Cantini to Kent LaMotta, but was held to 43 yards rushing. St. Francis 42 Brooklyn 7 Ashland 13 Slippery Rock 0 ASHLAND, Ohio Gary Feagin gained 113 yards on 11 carries and scored on runs of 35 and 57 yards and Ashland (2-0) twice thwarted Slippery Rock near its goal line. Slippery Rock (1-1) got inside Ashland's 25 four times, once losing the ball at the 1 on a fumble and another time at the 5 on an interception.

Terry Jordan was outstanding on defense for the Rockets with 22 tackles eight solo and an interception. Geneva 45 Brockport 0 BROCKPORT, N.Y. Westminster 35 Findlay 15 FINDLAY, Ohio Westminster converted a Findlay fumble one of four into a 9-yard touchdown fass from Joe Micchia to Dave oley to launch the visiting Titans, ranked No. 1 in NAIA Division II, to their 16th consecutive victory. Jamie Horn scored on runs of 49 and 5 yards for Findlay (1-1), his second score cutting Westminster's lead to 20-15 in the third quarter. But Brad Tokar, who scored the Titans' second touchdown on a 57-yard run, scored from the 5 and 2 in the fourth period to put Westminster out of reach. CMU 35 Chicago 8 CHICAGO Scott Barnyak gained 103 yards on 12 carries, one a 43-yard touchdown run, making him the sixth player in Carnegie Mellon's modern history to gain 1,000 yards in a career.

A junior from Penn-Trafford, Barnyak has 1,018 yards. Bill Snyder passed for two touchdowns and Steve Paterno for a third, but it was CMU's rushing offense and its defense that did most of the damage to Chicago (0-2, 0-2) in the University Athletic Association game. Linebacker Robert O'Toole of CMU (2-1, 2-0) led the Tartans with 13 tackles and returned an interception 39 yards for a touchdown. Duquesne 21 Bethany 17 Backup quarterback Joe Gula, a sophomore from Ringgold High School, completed six passes on an 88-yard drive capped by a 26-yard touchdown pass to Dan Krebbs on fourth-and-2 with 3:25 to play to Sive Duquesne (3-0) its first lead, im Torchia's interception of a tipped pass at the Dukes' 2 clinched the victory with 35 seconds to play. IUP 27 Towson 0 TOWSON, Md. IUP (2-0), ranked sixth in NCAA Division II, recovered six fumbles and intercepted two passes against Towson State (0-2), a Division I-AA team. Paul Kovell started the scoring with a 9-yard touchdown pass from Tony Aliucci. Ken Rock scored on a 1-yard run and Arthur Hill caught a 51-yard pass from Aliucci. Hill had four catches for 102 yards.

Rex Pynos' 2-yard run finished the scoring. Edlnboro 46 New Haven 13 EDINBORO Elbert Cole ran 64 yards for a touchdown on the third play of the game and Hal Galupi hooked up with Ernest Priester on a 71-yard pass play for a touchdown on the first play of the second half for Edinboro (1-1). Galupi completed 11 of 21 passes for 197 yards and three touchdowns. Priester caught three for 125 yards and the three touchdowns. Cole carried 15 times for 138 yards, i Jay McLucas hit on 15 of 31 passes for 160 yards for New Haven (1-1), but had two intercepted.
