ANTHEMS OF PRAISE Christmas Music in All the Churches of Washington. SPECIAL PROGRAMS SELECTIONS FROM SOME OF THE BEST COMPOSITIONS, Story of Christ Child's Birth in the Manger at Bethlehem-Peace on Earth. Joyoum anthems, Christmas carols and Christ songs will be heard tomorrow in all the churches of Washington and its suburbs. Through stained glass windows and arched doorways will come volumes of melody from organ and orchestra, mingling with the happy hosainas of the choirs and congregations. The story of the Christ-child in the lowly manger at Bethlehem will be retold, and men will be urged to partake of the spirit of Christmas in all its gladness and generosity.

Altar and chancel will wear garbs of winter evergreen-the holly, with its shining green foliage and brilliant red berries, s'mbolic of renewed hopes and exertions; cedar, emblematic of "spiritual strength, think of me," and pine, with its sentiment of "time and faith." Specially arranged programs of music will be presented in church and chapel. These will include selections from some of the best musical compositions and noted oratorios rendered by talented local vocalists, accompanied by muster hands on organ, harp and violin. The very atmosphere will be filled with the music of 'Teace on earth, good will to men." Homely old-time hymns of "Jesus and love" will be sung in some churches, others the choirs will render excerpts from the classical song-picture of "The Messiah." But all will be in harmony with the gladsome occasion, the day of glad tidings of great joy. Especially fine programs of music have been prepared for the Catholic and Episcopal churches, but Christmas chants, choruses, carols, anthems, solos and hymns will be features of all the services of every denomination.
