She a secretary for many years. Mrs. Atwell, known as "Goodie," was a member of the the Community Reformed Church of Whiting, and the Friendship Committee of the church. She was also an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Richmond Hills, Queens, N.Y.

Mrs. Atwell was born in Hoboken and lived in Union City and in Richmond Hills for 36 years before moving to Crestwood Village in 1976. Her husband, William, died in 1989. Surviving are two daughters, Nancy A. Strub, Farmingdale, Long Island, and Gale G.

Gilmartin, Oneonta, N.Y.; a sister, Thora Tergesen, Whiting, and three grandchildren. Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, Whiting, is in charge of arrangements. GUDRUN ATWELL, of Crestwood Village, Whiting, MANCHESTER WILLIAM A. BERRY, 66, of Deland, formerly of BARNEGAT TOWNSHIP, died Thursday in Poway, Calif. He was a security guard at Wells Fargo, Newark, for 22 years, retiring i in 1980.

After that, he was a security guard at Sun Security, Daytona Beach, Fla. He was a Coast Guard veteran of the Korean War, and a member of the John Wesley Taylor American Legion Post 232, Barnegat. Mr. Berry was born in Providence, R.I., and lived in Bayonne, Garwood and Barnegat before moving to Deland in 1991. Surviving are his wife, Lillian E.

CLARENCE CLESS, 82, of Ortley Beach, DOVER TOWNSHIP, died yesterday at Community Medical Center, Toms River. He was an electroplater at Englehard Union, for many years, retiring in 1975. He was a Coast Guard veteran of World War II.

Mr. Cless was born in Harrison and lived in Irvington before moving to Ortley Beach 46 years ago. Surviving are his wife, Edna Skells Cless, and a sister, Ruth Zarco, New Jersey. Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, Lavallette, is in charge of arrangements.

GERALD W. EVANS, 63, of Fairfield, whose daughter and mother live in OCEAN COUNTY, died Wednesday at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center, New York. Among his survivors are his daughter, Tracy Shemeley, Jackson Township, and his mother, Alyce 'Crowley Camisa, Brick Township. Ippolito Stellato Funeral Home, RICHARD H. GAUNT 67, of Lynn Haven, whose sister lives in TUCKERTON, died Wednesday at the Bay Medical Center, Panama City, Fla.

He retired from the Navy in 1967 with the rank of lieutenant commander. After that, he was operations research analyst at Navy Coastal Systems until 1986. He was a deacon, an elder, a choir member, and Sunday school teacher in the First Presbyterian Church. He was a graduate of Atlantic High School, and a graduate of the University of Wisconsin and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1946. Mr.

Gaunt was born in Moundsville, W.Va., and lived in Atlantic City before moving to Lynn Haven. Surviving are his wife, Judith Rigell Gaunt; three sons, Richard H. West Palm Beach, John Houston, and James Tallahassee, a daughter, Doris West Palm Beach; two sisters, Margaret Lynch, Oxford, and Virginia Haines, Tuckerton, and four grandchildren. Wilson Funeral Home, Panama City, is in charge of arrangements. ANGELINA MACY SCALERA GIBBS, 68, of TOMS RIVER, died Thursday at Community Medical Center, Toms River, after a lengthy illness.

She was employed at Sally Gee, Ridgefield, and Macy's, Paramus. Mrs. Gibbs was born in South Plainfield and lived in Ridgefield for many years before moving to Toms River a year ago. Her husband, David, died in 1989. Surviving are two sons, James, Toms River, and Kenneth, Ridgefield Park; two daughters, Jane Tallman, Barnegat Township, and Barbara Forbes, Fort Dodge, Iowa; two brothers, Dominick and Louis Scalera, both of South Plainfield; 12 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Voorhees Funeral Home, Ridgefield Park, is in charge of arrangements. ADELE D. MANZO, 78, of POINT PLEASANT, died yesterday at Point Pleasant Hospital. She was a tax assessing clerk for Point Pleasant Borough from 1959 until retiring in 1975. She was a member of the Harvey Memorial Methodist Church, Point Pleasant, and its Weslyan Service Guild.

She was a volunteer at the Claremont Care Center, Point Pleasant. Mrs. Manzo was born i in New York and lived in Dumont before moving to Point Pleasant in 1958. Her husband, Joseph, died in 1954. Surviving are two sons, Gary, Florence Township, and Joseph, Manasquan; a brother, Elmer Pelsang, Flagler Beach, and five grandchildren.

Pabel-Evertz Funeral Home, Point Pleasant, is in charge of arrangements. GERARD JAMES MC CREADY 28, of BRICK TOWNSHIP, died yesterday at Kim- ball Medical Center, Lakewood. He was a warehouse manager at General Stores Brick, for a year. He was a member of the Brick Presbyterian Church. Mr.

McCready was born in Lakewood and was a lifelong resident of Brick. Surviving are his fiancee, Brenda Stillwell, Brick; his parents, William and Joan Haman, Brick; two brothers, Gregory McCready, Florida, and Michael Haman, Hazlet Township, and his maternal grandmother, Ann Moir, Brick. Weatherhead Young Funeral Home, Brick, is in charge of arrangements. JOHN K. MOONEY 60, of WARETOWN, died Thursday at Kimball Medical Center, Lakewood.

He owned and operated the Rainbow Soft Drink: and Beverage Waretown, from 1985 to present. Prior to that, he worked for the Coca-Cola Asbury Park, for 27 years. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War, and a communicant of St. Barnabas Roman Catholic Church, Bayville, Berkeley Township. Mr.

Mooney was born in Rahway and lived in Ocean Gate before moving to Waretown in 1988. Surviving are a friend, Sherry Falcone, with whom he lived; five sons, John K. JAMES B. PRINK, 84, of WARE- TOWN, died yesterday at Southern Ocean County Hospital, Manahawkin, Stafford Township. He was an electrician with Tide Water Oil Bayonne, for 30 years, retiring in 1973. He was a communicant of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, and a member of the Holiday Beach Club, both of Waretown.

Mr. Prink was born in Jersey City and lived in Elizabeth and Bayonne before moving to Waretown in 1975. Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Ethel I. Healing Prink; two daughters, Elaine Mulcahy and Janet Pessolano, both of Waretown; nine grandchildren and 10 great -grandchildren. JOHN A. RENDER, 61, of JACKSON TOWNSHIP, died Thursday at Community Medical Center, Toms River. He was a self-employed insurance inspector-loss control engineer. Prior to that, he worked for HooperHolmes New York, for 15 years. He was a member of the Jackson Elks Lodge 2744, where he was past exalted ruler, a charter member, and was the handicap chairman.

Mr. Stemmer was born in New Brunswick and lived in North Brunswick most of his life before moving to Crestwood Village.
