ANOTHER industry has been added to South of making armor breast Some people thought the dispensary system would driveaway new industries but it seems to attract them. THE Atlanta Journal is convinced that the free silver issue is noc as strong as in 18WJ. is not likely though that the Democrats will drop it from thej platform but the anti- expansion 'and trust 'issues will predominate. CVi.tf£; OF STREETS. In another column we publish a paper prepared by Mr, H.

Dibble, and by him read at.the last meeting or the Improvement Society, on the subject) of "Streets and Roads," and we coin- mend it to the careful perusal of our readers. Mr. Di bble makes a very practical suggestion relative to the care of the streets, which if adopted by the Street Committee of Council and pub in operation would result in giving the city cleaner streets and better walks and driveways. We have reference to that part of his paper where he suggests that the system of'the Improvement Society, in the care of the parks be applied to al the streets. In other words that the city be divided up into sections and a man put in charge, of each section to look after it and keep it in order.

On the principal of "a stitch in time," this man would be on flhe snot lo fill the i little hole in the roadbed when it is first made, and jthis way keep the road smooth and even; to repair the wash in the sidewalks after a heavy rain, to cut the weeds in the street, Such an arrangement need not interfere, with Snpt. The owners of houses in the city or their tenants should be required by the city authorities to keep clean in good order the sidewalks along the line of their property; and the property owners in turn should exact of tbe city authorities the same care of the streets and roads. If this could be done, there would be no cause for complaint, Aiken would always look clean and would be a model for other places to pattern after. It is that our City Council will take up this matter at once and act on it. Administrator's Sale. at 11 a. at Woodward's Btnblos, opposite city hall. TOOLK WOODWARD. Letter From Macon, On. 'Correspondence Journal and Review It has been so long since I have contributed anything to the JOUKNAL RHVIBW until I expect your manj readers have forgotten me.

But as have been so busy.with my studies till 1 have not had very much time to write for papers, I must take time to give you a few lines in order that yonr readers may know that I am still in the land of the living. 1 hope "to be able to complete my studies in this college in a few more weeks. I have been greatly benefited by.coming here and taking acourse in this college, and do not regret the time and money that I have spent since I have been here: I long ago recognized the fact that a young man or woman, without some sort of a cpl- legej education stands very poor show in the business world. I hope the time is not very far distant when every boy and girl in the South will have the opportunity of getting a college education. In fact the South will never be able to measure arms with the North until she'makes greater ef- forts to educate her boys and girls.

But what we need is a compulsary educational that will force fathers to send their children to school. There are so many fathers in the country districts that are perfectly willing to sit down and see their children grow up. in the, grossest ignorance. -Such fathers 'need to be forced to educate their children.so.far as they are able. Bqt as I did nptstarjt'out with the intention of writing an article on education, I will change my subject.
