She moved to Maine more than 20 years ago from Nelson, N.H., where she wrote some of her most influential works. She taught at Radcliffe and Wellesley Colleges and lectured at colleges throughout the country.

LANE 81, AYER, Mass.died of pneumonia on Saturday. He was an art collector, who was once described as' a "traveling-salesman for American painting." He began collecting 20th century, American art in the 1950s. Many of the paintings he bought for less $2,000 are now worth millions, In 1990, he donated 75 pieces to Boston's Museum of Fine Art, includ ing paintings by Georgia O'Keeffej Marsden Hartley and Arthur G. Dover Lane, a Harvard graduate, was a manufacturer in the plastics industry. He served as president of StanaloTd Corp.

in Leominster, fron) 1972 until 1983. He also flew his own plane crosscountry during the 1940s. He became friends with O'Keeffe when; lie stopped once in New Mexico tp ask directions. Lane also made friends with phor tographer Ansel Adams and collected many of his works. In 1953, he founded the William H.

Lane Foundation, which sponsored shows of his collections in museums around the country. Mrs. Martucci was born in Jersey City and lived there and in Lodi before moving to Freehold 17 years ago.

Her husband, John, died in 1951. She was a gradu ate of Brookdale Community College, Lincroft, Middletown Township, Passaic County Community College, and attended North Jersey Training School, Totowa. Mrs. Bradforth was born in Asbury Park and lived in Paterson and in Somerville before returning to Asbury Park two months iago. A journal of her 82nd year is scheduled to be published this fall. Sarton acknowledged her homosexuality when her novel about a lesbian love affair, "Mrs.

Stevens Hears the Mermaids Singing," was published in 1965. "She never thought the literary establishment was on her side," said Margot Peters, who worked with Sarton on her biography. "And it caused her a lot of anxiety." SADIE C. WARE, of POINT PLEASANT BEACH, died Monday at Point Pleasant Hospital. She was a seamstress with the International Ladies' Garment Workes Union Local 130, Asbury Park, for many years.

She was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, Jackson Township, where she was a member of the Women's Society of the Christian service. Mrs. Ware was born in the Pleasant Grove section of Jackson and lived in Bay Head and in Manto-loking before moving to Point Pleasant Beach over 55 years ago. Her husband, Lovell, died in 1969. Surviving is a brother, Allen Cottrell, Flemington.

JEAN YUPPA, 84, of Lodi, whose daughter lives in TOMS RIVER, died Monday at Community Medical Center, Toms River. She was a dress maker at Possaner's Dress Lodi, retiring 30 years ago. She was a member of the International Ladies' Garment Workers Union. Mrs.

Yuppa was born in Bethlehem, and lived in Lodi for many years. Her husband, Anthony, died in February. Surviving are a son, Joseph Yuppa, Montville Township; a daughter, Connie Swanson, Toms River; a sister, Mary Lucido, Pittsburg, 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. ZAMBETTI, 84, of Forked River, LACEY TOWNSHIP, died Sunday at the Methodist Hospital, Memphis, Tenn. He was an administrator for the Federal Housing Administration, New York, for 35 years, retiring in 1977. He was a World War II Navy veteran, and a communicant of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Barnegat Township. Mr.

Zambetti was born in New York and lived in the Riv-erdale section of the Bronx before moving to Forked River eight years ago. Surviving are his wife, Teresa "Vera" Mc Sherry Zambetti; three sons, Edwin Kindermann, Fair Lawn, Denis Zambetti, Livermore, and Richard Zambetti, Memphis; two brothers, George Zambetti, Riverdale, N.Y., and Edwin Zambetti, Stuart, two sisters, Joan Kruger, River-dale, and Catherine Tancredi, Flushing, N.Y.; and nine grandchildren. DORIS HEBELER ZIEMER, 75, of Whiting, MANCHESTER TOWNSHIP, died Monday at Community Medical Center, Toms River. She was secretary to the dean of instruction at Ocean County College, Dover Township, for 10 years, retiring in 1972.

She was a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church and the Village VI Homeowners Association, both in Whiting. Mrs. Ziemer was born in Newark and lived in Forked River, Lacey Township, Toms River and Bradenton, before moving to Whiting in 1982. Surviving are her husband of 54 years, Ernest; two sons, Ronald, Sarasota, and Robert, Toms River; a daughter, Sandra Pucillo, Beachwood; five grandchildren and three greatgrandchildren.

Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, Toms River, is in charge of arrangements. MARGARET ESPOSITO MARTUCCI, 85, of FREEHOLD, died Monday at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. She was a seamstress in New York for 30 years before retiring. She was a member of the International Ladies' Garment Workers Union, and a parishioner of Sf. Robert Bellarmine Roman Catholic Church, Freehold.

She was a YORK, Maine May Sarton's stories and poems about life as a feminist endeared her to the women's movement. In later years, she attracted readers with frank and painful journals about old age. Sarton, who died Sunday of breast cancer at age 83, believed she was never understood or appreciated by the nation's critical elite. She thought her work was largely dismissed by academics, in part because she was a woman and a lesbian. She began her writing career as a poet in 1929.

From there, she branched out into novels, journals and children's books. RICHARD A. MATERAZZI, 52, of MANCHESTER TOWNSHIP, died Monday at home. He was a parishioner of St. John's Roman Catholic Church, Lakehurst.

He was a graduate of Belleville High School. Mr. Materazzi was born in Newark and lived in Belleville before moving to Manchester in 1975. Surviving are a son, Richard Materazzi, Elizabeth; a daughter, Mel-anie Materazzi, Miami; his parents, Ernest and Viola Materazzi, Manchester; a brother, Ernest Towaco, Montville Township; and two sisters, Barbara O'Brien, Guilderlend, N.Y., and Rita Rose, Nutley. HELEN K. PATTERSON, 84, of MANCHESTER TOWNSHIP, died Monday at Logan Manor Nursing Home, Whiting, Manchester Township. She was a sales representative at Rubin Donnelly, N.Y., for many years. She was a Red Cross volunteer during World War II. She was a member of the Czech-American Club and the Order of the Eastern Star, both in Manchester.

Mrs. Patterson was born in Yonkers, N.Y., and lived in Bronx-ville, N.Y., and in the Original Leisure Village, Lakewood, before moving to Manchester. Her husband, Schuyler, died in 1964. There are no known survivors. D'Elia Funeral Home, Lakewood, is in charge of arrangements.

WILLIAM C. REID, 93, of Crest wood Village, Whiting, MANCHESTER TOWNSHIP, died yesterday at Logan Manor Nursing Home, Whiting. He was a textile colorist with the Textile Colorist Guild, New York, for eight years, retiring in 1975. He was a member of the Textile Colorist's Guild, New York, St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Paterson, St.

Stephen's Episcopal Church, Whiting, and both churches' choir and Men's Club. Mr. Reid was born in Ireland and came to the United States in 1906, living in Glen Rock before moving to Whiting in 1977. Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Gertrude M. Hausamann Reid; two daughters, Nona R.

Costello, Orlando, and Nancy Johnson, Levittown, N.Y.; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, Whiting, Manchester Township, is in charge of arrangements. ROSE ROSETSKY, 96, of LAKE-WOOD, died yesterday at Kimball Medical Center, Neptune. Mrs. Rosetsky was born in Estonia and came to the United States in 1915, living in New York and in Farmingdale before moving to Lakewood 30 years ago.

Her husband, Aron, died in 1959. Surviving are a son, Arthur Yachno-witz Reel, New York; a daughter, Nanette Marks, Hastings-on-Hudson, N.Y.; six grandchildren and five greatgrandchildren. Belkoff Goldstein Jewish Memorial Chapel, Lakewood, is in charge of arrangements. ANTHONY JOHN RUSSO, 75, of Wallington formerly of TOMS RIVER, died Friday at General Hospital, Passaic. He was produce manager at IGA, Saddle Brook Township, for 10 years, retiring in 1983.

Mr. Russo was born in Jersey City and lived there, in Lyndhurst Township and Toms River before moving to Wallington in 1990. His wife, Rose, died in 1977. Surviving are. two sons, John J.

Russo, with whom he lived, and Michael R. Russo, Lake Hiawatha; two daughters, Michelle Kelly, Lyndhurst, and Joyce Gebhardt, Beachwood; two brothers, Conrad Russo, Monmouth Beach, and Gino Russo, Jersey City; a sister, Josephine, Bayonne; 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. FRANCES DE VEVEY, 82, of LAKEWOOD, died yesterday at Kimball Medical Center, Lakewood. Mrs. DeVevey was born in New York and lived in the Bronx before moving to Lakewood 18 years ago. Surviving are her husband, Raymond and two daughters, Clau-dette Freeman, Lakewood, and Arm-ida Montecalvo, the Bronx. ARTHUR J. GIGANTINO, 81, of Silver Ridge Park West, BERKELEY TOWNSHIP, died yesterday at Community Medical Center, Toms River. He retired in 1975 as vice president of sales at Knickerbocker Ice New York, where he worked for 15 years. Prior to that, he owned and operated the JD Ice Newark, for 35 years. He was a communicant of St.

Maximilian Kolbe Roman Catholic Church, Toms River, and a member of the Silver Ridge Park West Men's Club. Mr. Gigantino was born in Brooklyn and lived in Newark, Mountainside and in Florida before moving to Silver Ridge Park West in 1985. Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Virginia I. Weber Gigantino; a son, Joseph, Clifton; four brothers, James, Cranberry Lake, Byram Township, Leonard, Florida, Michael, Cranford Township, and Jack, Clark Township; three grandchildren and three greatgrandchildren.
