Pratt, President of the West Huntsville Cotton Mill, Huntsville, Alabama, who is known as one of the most progressive business men of Alabama, in addition to his extensive cotton manufacturing interests is running what is said to be one of the largest cotton ginning plants in the world. Mr. Pratt has made a thorough investigation of tbe Round- lap bale in his mill, and recently published a letter, in which he said that eye to see, by the potent energy of a single act "clipped the brittle thread of life," and transmitted bis spirit into tbe realms beyond; therefore be it Resolved, while in common with our fellow citizens, relatives and friends, we mourn the great general and public loss which has been sustained, we feel it to be our privilege as members of our Fraternity, and Star Lodge in particular, in a special mariner to acknowledge our obligations and express our reverence for the name of our departed brother, Samuel Giles. Resolved, in this sad bereavement, Star Lodge has lost a worthy member, the community an honest, upright citizen, and his relatives and associates a true ami tried who has always been loved and admired for bis many good qualities by all who knew him.
