William Surmeier officiating. Burial will be in the Bennington Cemetery, Bennington, Mrs. Wallace died Friday, Feb. 12, at the Ottawa County Hospital In Minneapolis. She was born Feb.

3, 1922, in Bennington. She had worked for 17 Mrs. Wallace years as a teller at the Planters State Bank in Salina. She was a member of St. Mary Queen of the Universe Catholic Church and St.

Mary's Altar Gulld. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Madeline Brown. Survivors include her husband, Jim of the home; three sons, John of Jacksonville, Bill of Denver and Mike of Horton; a brother, Eugene Winans of Cottonwood, a sister, Thelma Winans of Manhattan; and three grandchildren. A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at the Ryan Mortuary.

4 Visitation is at the funeral home. Kenneth L. Britt Kenneth L. Britt, 68, 1364 Parkwood, died Saturday, Feb. 13, at St.

John's Hospital. Mr. Britt was born Aug. 5, 1919, in DuBois, Neb. He moved to Salina in 1984 from New Blaine, Ark.

He had worked for the civil service in the U.S. Defense Department. He was a member of the Elks Lodge No. 718 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1432, and he was a veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred the home; a sister, Lucille Lucky of Eskridge; and many nieces and nephews. memorial service will be 1 p.m. Monday at the Ryan Mortuary, the Rev. Troy Bowers officiating. may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Herbert H. Blase SYLVAN GROVE Herbert H. Blase, 81, Sylvan Grove, died Saturday, Feb. 13, at Asbury-Salina Regional Medical Center, Salina. -Mr.

Blase was born Aug. 15, 1906, in Sylvan Grove and was a lifetime resident of the area. He was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Sylvan Grove. His wife, Nora, died in 1977. include two sons, Donald of Sylvan Grove and Dale R.

of Forest Grove, a daughter, Wanda Steuber of Salina; two sisters, Nettie Blase and Martha Blase, both of Mesa, 12 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the church, Pastor Jack Karch officiating. Burial will be in the Lutheran Cemetery, Sylvan Grove. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Mrs. Courville was born Jan. 21, 1904, at Miltonvale. She was a homemaker and a lifetime resident of Cloud County. She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Concordia, the church altar society and the auxiliaries of St.

Joseph Hospital and the American Legion. Her husband, Lefty, died in 1981. Survivors include a daughter, Ina Garrison of Concordia; two sons, Elmo of Leawood; and Donald of Dodge City; a sister, Marcella Plante of Plainville, 12 grandchildren; and seven greatgrandchildren. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the church, the Revs.

Roger Meitl and John Lahey officiating. Burial will be in St. Concordia Cemetery. A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Monday at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Chapel, Concordia.

Memorials may be made to the organ fund of the church. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. today, all day Monday and until the service Tuesday at the funeral home. Beulah Gotti TESCOTT Beulah Gotti, 88, rural Tescott, died Saturday, Feb. 13, at the Ottawa County Hospital, Minneapolis.

Funeral arrangments will be announced by Ryan Mortuary, Salina. Wilma R. Reed BENNINGTON Wilma R. Reed, 79, rural Bennington, died Saturday, Feb. 13, at Asbury-Salina Regional Medical Center, Salina.

Mrs. Reed was born Oct. 18, 1908, on a farm In Ottawa County. She was a homemaker and a member of the H.G.L. Club.

Survivors include her husband, J. Harold of the Mrs. Reed Mrs. Reed home; a son, Melvin of Bennington; and two granddaughters. The funeral will be 10:30 a.m.

Tuesday at the United Church of Bennington, the Rev. Ron Robbins officiating. Burial will be in Bennington Cemetery, Memorials may be made to the kidney foundation. Visitation will be at GeisendorfRush Smith Funeral Home, Salina, after 4 p.m. today, until 9 p.m.

Monday and until the service Clara R. Ellsworth HILL CITY Clara R. Ellsworth, formerly of 329 S. Ninth in Salina, died Friday, Feb. 12, at Dawson Place Nursing Home, Hill City.

Mrs. Ellsworth was born in Salina. After moving away for a while, she returned to Salina from 1940 to 1980, when she moved to the nursing home. Survivors include a son, Arnold Ellsworth of Hill City; a daughter, Alene Griffin of Edmond, a stepsister, Wuanita Wineland of South Carolina; three grandchildren; and seven greatgrandchildren. A service will be 11 a.m.

Survivors include a son, Wilbur of Hillsboro; a brother, Elmer Schlotthauer of Hillsboro; two grandchildren; and six greatgrandchildren. The funeral will be 10 a.m.

Margarethe W. Kruckenberg LINCOLN Margarethe W. Kruckenberg, 85, Lincoln, died Friday, Feb. 12, at the Mid-America Nursing Center in Lincoln. Miss Kruckenberg was born Aug.

18, 1902, in Lincoln. She was a lifetime resident of the area and a member of the Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church of Russell. Survivors include a sister, Erna Fischer of Lincoln; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Hall Memorial Chapel, 1 Lincoln, the Rev.

Donald D. Laude officiating. Burial will be in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery, south of Lincoln. Memorials may be made to the church.

Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. Monday and until the time of service Tuesday at the funeral home. Catheryn Anne Sjogren CONCORDIA Catheryn Anne Sjogren, 2-year-old daughter of Timothy and Lisa Sjogren, Concordia, died Friday, Feb. 12, at the University of Colorado Science Center in Denver. Catheryn Anne was born Oct.

8, 1985, in Lakin. Survivors in addition to her parents include her grandparents, Jim and Marcia Sjogren of Concordia and Larry and Linda Nobert of Ames; and her great-grandparents, Ruth McDaniel of Concordia, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Moore of Farmington, N.M., and Dorothy Sjogren of Concordia. The funeral will be 10 a.m.

today at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia. August Cari Kuhlmann SMITH CENTER August Carl Kuhlmann, 88, Smith Center, died Friday, Feb. 12, at the Bethesda Care Center in Smith Center. Mr. Kuhlmann was born April 18, 1899, In Athol.

He was a retired farmer and a member of the Amerlcan Lutheran Church in Smith Center. Survivors include a son, Norman of Smith Center; a daughter, Delores Jacobs of Smith Center; three grandchildren; and three greatgrandchildren. The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Simmons Mortuary Chapel, Smith Center, the Rev. Duane Thompson officiating.

Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Smith Center. Visitation will be until 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Grace Stahl PLAINVILLE The funeral for Grace Stahl, 68, Plainville, will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Plainville, the Rev.

Emil Labbe officlating. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Mrs. Stahl died Thursday, Feb. 11, in Denver.

She was born Jan. 20, 1920, in Plainville, and had been a pharmaceutical clerk. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Plainville, and the Daughters of Isabella in Hays. Her husband, Bernard, died in 1975. Survivors include three sons, Gael of Nashville, Michael of Sacramento, and Marcel of Oakland, five daughters, Theresa Wellbrock of Lakewood, Joan LaCoste of Nevada City, Sister Marilyn Stahl of Washington, D.C., Mary Stahl of Newton and Bernadette Hatch of Nashville; her mother, Clara Bissett of Plainville; two brothers, Robert Bissett of Littleton, and Herman Bissett of Tulsa, two sisters, Marcellene Stahl of Plainville and Sister Donada Bissett of Concordia; and 13 grandchildren.

A guild rosary will be said at 3 p.m., a Daughters of Isabella rosary at 3:15 p.m., and a parish wake service will be at 7:30 p.m. today at the Mosher-McMillin Funeral Home, Plainville. Memorials may be made to the Sacred Heart Catholic School. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Luke's Hospital in Marion. Mrs. Rhodes was born May 26, 1902, in Iowa. She was a homemaker and a member of the Presbyterian Church in Marion, the Eastern Star and St. Luke's Hospital Auxiliary.

Her husband, George, died in 1974, and a son, George died Jan. 2. Survivors include a sister, Grace Powell of Newton; two grandchildren; and two greatgrandchildren. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the church, the Rev.

Fifth. George L. Oxandale Jr. HERINGTON George L. Judd Oxandale 77, Herington, died Friday, Feb.

12, at the Herington Municipal Hospital. Mr. Oxandale was born Aug. 3, 1910, In Netawaka. He was a past president of the Herington Chamber of Commerce and had been honored as the Herington Citizen of the Year In 1961.

He had been a teacher and coach at the Netawaka High School and was a partner with the AndersonOxandale Rock Products Co. in Herington. He was a member of the Herington United Methodist Church, the DixDay Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1281, the Clary R. McClaren American Legion Post No.

12, the Polar Star Lodge No. 130 AF AM of Netawaka, Kansas Contractors Agsociation and the Kansas Limestone Association. He served with the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and was awarded the Bronze Star and eight combat ribbons. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy of the home; a son, Sidney of Emporia; a daughter, Nancy Hatterman of Lost Springs; four brothers, Harold of Herington, Melvin of Holton, Warren of Wetmore and Glen of Netawaka; three sisters, Reona Calvert, Bernice Boettcher and Velma Bunton, all of Holton; and two granddaughters.

Mathenia, 19, also of 1833 S. Ninth, Apt. 13, admitted he acted as a look-out for Craig. Craig reportedly ordered the attendant to lie on the floor and took about $200 from the cash register. Craig is a former employee of the station.

The two originally were charged with aggravated robbery and conspiracy to commit aggravated robbery. The conspiracy charge was dismissed and the aggravated robbery charge was reduced to robbery in exchange for their guilty pleas. Mary M. VanAmburg BELOIT Mary M. VanAmburg, 101, Belolt, died Saturday, Feb. 13, at the Hilltop Lodge in Beloit. Mrs.

VanAmburg was born Jan. 6, 1887, In Edgar, Neb. She had lived in Belolt since 1908, moving from Edgar. She was a homemaker and a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Her husband, H.H.

died in 1 1947. Survivors Include a daughter, Ethel Hollaway of Beloit; six grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and several great -greatgrandchildren. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the McDonald Funeral Home, Beloit, the Rev. Jim Hutchins officiating.

Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery, Beloit. Memorials may be made to the Solomon Valley Hospice. Visitation is at the funeral home. Eva Ruth Selves MINNEAPOLIS Eva Ruth Selves, 94, Minneapolis, died Friday, Mrs. Selves was born Nov.

1, 1893, on a farm in Ottawa County, She and her husband had farmed in the Hall community until moving to Minneapolis In 1964. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Minneapolis, and the Rebekah Lodge of Delphos. Her husband, Chester, died in 1976. Survivors Include a son, Murl D. of Tempe, Arlz.

A service will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Highland Cemetery, Minneapolis, the Rev. Larre Eschliman officiating. Memorials may be made to the hospital. Visitation will be until 9 p.m.

today at the Shields Funeral Home, Minneapolis. Etta Plala SILVER SPRING, Md. The funeral for Etta Plaia, 72, Silver Spring, was Tuesday, Feb. 9, at St. Andrew Apostle Church In Silver Spring.

Burial was in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Silver Spring. Mrs. Plaia was born Dec. 4, 1915, in New York City and was a homemaker. She died Feb.

Beth Perry, a spokeswoman for the committee, called the allegations that the committee had a connection to the U.S. Capitol bombing or the bombing at the War College "absolutely ridiculous." Offices close for Presidents Day The kids will be in school Monday, but city, county and federal offices will be closed in observance of Presidents Day.

The City-County Building and the Salina Post Office will be closed. Mail will not be delivered. Banks also will be closed in observance of the holiday. She said some literature on the Capitol bombing was passed out at a committee-sponsored demonstration on Nov. 12, five days after the bombing, but that the committee had nothing to do with distributing that material.

Asked about any plans for violence at the 1984 conventions or Olympics, she said the FBI called the committee's national office to ask what the committee planned. The committee referred the FBI agent to its lawyer, who told the agent that local groups might be planning peaceful demonstrations but no national effort was planned. One of the FBI documents said the Dallas field office received copies of literature produced by the committee at a demonstration on Nov. 12, 1983, five days after the bombing.
