ALONG THE GERONIMO CREEK BLOWN NEWS The hurricane that blew from the coast on the of September 11 left mark deep into the heart Of Texas. The damage in this area Included downed windmill lowers, ripped roofs, uprooted and torn trees, and nerves. Cousin Bill Eweling picked the windmill off our foof and neighbor Harry had his put up again in a hurry. Mr. and Mrs.

FC.Brau- ne in Geronimo were personally concerned about their daughter Elvira, and her husband Walter Nichols and their family of Texas City. The Nichols family which included their daughter Beatrice left Texas City and arrived here at the home of their sister, Mrs. Reinhard Voss on Saturday late in the evening. They were houseguests By The Seven TimtHermcMti Sisters of their parents until their return to Texas City on September 12. They spent their first night sleeping in their station wagon on the highway.

Wednesday night they were houseguests of friends in La Marque. On Thursday the Nichols arrived home to find the water thirteen inches in the house. Their home is built on an elevated foundation. Their garage which housed a pickup truck and a compact car was inundated with four feet of water. The pet dog which was left behind has not been recovered to date.

The mud and debris have been removed from their home but like so many this is just the beginning of a long restoration program for the people along the length of the Texas Coast. It was good to hear the report given by Mr. and Mrs. Arno Link Jr. Their friends Mr. and Mrs.

Jerry Rosytal of La Salle suffered very little damage to their property. Perhaps a half dozen shingles came off their roof. They boarded up their home and waited for orders to evacuate. Electric power in that area was restored as late as Saturday the day the Links visited with the Roz- sytals. Mr.

and Mrs. Don Mergele of Jones Creek reported only minor damages. They had left for a week's vacation in Wyoming and stayed with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gus Mergele and Mr.

and Mrs. Rud. Henze before returning to the devastated area. They report only uprooted trees "and minor damages in the Jones Creek area. The Mergeles were deeply concerned with the tragedy of the Chas.

Dunn family at Angleton. Mr. and Mrs Nolan Link of Freeport stayed in Houston and returned to find their newly remodeled home water-logged. Mr. and Mrs.

E. A.Hen- neke and Mr. and Mrs. James Cowey and their son James Edward visited in San Antonio this past Saturday with Mr. and Mrs.

Tom Connor and her husband of Port Lavaca evacuated to the stormy days with her parents in Poteet. They returned to find their boarded home intact with even the hot water heater going as before the storm. Mr. and Mrs. Winston Pratt of Port Arthur spent the perilous days in Waco.

They found their home in good shape though many neighboring houses were damaged. Mrs. Henneke's sister, Mrs. Hal Webb of San Marcos found her husband busy inspecting the north roof of their home on Sherbarb Street. They are busy having a new roof put on.

Ben William Hememeyer who recently became a resident of Victoria, spent the past weekend with home folks. He became an expert with the water mop. He was kept busy mopping for two hours keeping down the water level in his apartment. Mr. and Mrs.

Arno Link were in Victoria attend the wedding of Roger Buergner son of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Buergner and Jane Carr, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Carr.

The Buergners are relatives of the Links. The wedding rites were held at Our Lady of Victory Church in Victoria. The reception after the ceremony was held at the Women's Club House of that city. After the reception the Clear Springs visitors were the guests of Mrs. Nora Peela.

Thy were joined by Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Peela and family Mr. and Mrs. Hans Ernst and Mr.

Kenneth Rhein- Mrs. Virgil Rheinlander, and Mrs. Robert Ewald complimented Mrs. Jeanette Wright with a kitchen-pantry shower on September 9 at 7:30 p.m. The shower party was held in the back garden of the Kenneth Rheinlanderhome.

The gift table held a centerpiece of blue flowers over which was suspended a bridal sprinkling can showering blue and white rain. The serving table was laid with a white cloth and held a bouquet of plum- bago. The hostesses favored their honored guests with kitchen corsages and presented Jeanette with a copper-bottom sauce pan and a covered cast iron frying pan. The 31 guests were entertained playing bridal games and the lucky winners included Miss Penny Ulbricht, Mrs. Floyd Ebeling, and Mrs.
