The Yellow Cab Co. of Lebanon lo a local institution financed by local capital and operated oy local men, but the idea back of the company originated less than 10 years apo In Chicago. Since the innovation of this Yellow Cab icloa, the demand for taxi cab service In all parts of the country has frown so rapidly that today there are 1033 Tellow Cab operators in 71 1 towns.

Every one of these companies separate just as Yellow Cab Co. here in Lebanon, but they have all based their policy upon the Yellow Cab system as established by the parent company in Chicago. Tho basis of Tellow Cab operation is (1) low rates and (2) carefully selected drivers. Since 1920 'he tendency of rates charged by Yellow Cab operators throughout the country has been radically downward; whereas, before 1920 it was not Uncommon to pay 90 cents or $1.00 for a mile ride in a tajclcab. It is now unusual to pay more than 60c for thts same distance and much less for succeeding miles.

"The malfeasance of some) officials did not affect safe and dean government of the nation," Watson said "I marvel that in the face of the Democratic record of war expenditures they can talk graft and In- rotnpelency. Watson made no reference 0 the iesue of the Ku Klux Klan.

There was every prospec-U however of a strenuous fight between delegates representing the discordant elements of the Kla with State Chairman Walu acting as the peacemaker. The first tilt between the rival groups came in caucusing over the slate of delegates-at-large to he national convention. A report leak- out of a caucus of old guard leaders that only friends of Senator Watson who would back him for the nomination for vice president would find a berth on the delegation to Cleveland.
