ASBURY PARK PRESS I MONDAY, DEC. 15,2003 OBITUARIES A17 FAYE PROVDER. 94, of HAZLET, died Sunday, Dec. 14, at Arnold Walters Care Center, Hazlet. Born in Brooklyn, she lived there until moving to Hazlet in 1984.

She was predeceased by her husband, Abraham, in 1998. Surviving are a daughter, Phyllis Cooperman of Manchester; three grandchildren, Dr. Bruce Wm. Cooperman, Jayne S. Heidelberger, and Michael M.

Cooperman; six great grandchildren, Garrett, Jacqueline, Geoffrey, Ariel, Eric, and Benjamin. Chapel services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at BloomfieldCooper Jewish Chapels, 2130 Highway 35, Ocean Township. Shiva will be observed at the Cooperman residence in Manchester. WILLIAM RHODES 75, of KEYPORT, died Wednesday, Dec. 10, at home. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of World War II. After the war, he worked in construction and was a member of the Laborers International Union of North America Local 595.

Born in Pinewood, S.C., he relocated to this area at an early age. He was predeceased by his parents; a sister, Lucille Royster; and a brother, Vincent Taylor. Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth Rhodes of Willingboro; four children, Gloria Donnell of Tacoma, Barbara Johnson of Germany, Jonathan Rhodes of Keyport, and Denise Love of Willingboro; 18 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. A viewing will be held at 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday at Second Baptist Church, 205 Atlantic Keyport.

The funeral service will follow at noon. Interment will be held at Union Prospect Cemetery, Aberdeen. Condolences may be sent to Childs Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. JOHN J. SCHMIGEL, 90, of FREEHOLD, died Saturday, Dec.

13, at Monmouth County Care Center, John L. Montgomery Division, Freehold Township. He was a self-employed horse trainer at John. J. Schmigel Stables, Freehold, before retiring in 1985.

Born in Waterbury, he lived in Freehold most of his life. Surviving are his wife of 32 years, Rowena Proudfit Schmigel; a son John and his companion, Patty Kane, of Freehold; and three brothers, Fred, Alfonse, and Alexander all of Hoosick Falls, N.Y. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Freeman Funeral Home, 47 East Main Freehold.

Funeral services will be held 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Old Tennent Cemetery, Manalapan. CYNTHIA JOHN WRIGHT, 46, of FREEHOLD, died Wednesday, Dec. 10, at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch.

She was employed as an engineer at Middletown. Born in Trinidad, she was educated there until relocating to attend college at the University of the District of Columbia. She later relocated to this area when she attended graduate school at New York University, Manhattan. Those left behind will cherish her memory. She was predeceased by her parents; and a brother.

Surviving are her husband, Lincoln Wright; a son, Xavier Wright, at home; six sisters; four brothers; and many other relatives and friends. A viewing will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. today at Bethel A.M.E. Church, 3 Waterworks Road, Freehold.

13, at Blythe House in Tinton Falls. In 1985 he retired as the of Monmouth Exxon, Holmdel, where he had worked for 30 years. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War. He was a communicant of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth.

He was a founding member of the Mater Dei Booster Club, New Monmouth, and was an avid fisherman for many years. Born in Elizabeth, he lived in Middletown for 41 years. He was predeceased by his wife, Anita Aravecz, Aug. 31, 1992. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Claire and Edward Andia of Middletown; two sons and daughters-in-law, James and Cathy Aravecz of Lincroft, and John and Rondi Aravecz of Freehold; four grandchildren, Katrina, Thomas, Kevin and Nancy; and two friends, Edward McCauley and Richard Furda.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, 115 Tindall Road, Middletown. A funeral gathering will be held at 8:30 a.m.

Wednesday at the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Liturgy at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Church. Burial will be in the St. Gertrude's Cemetery, Colonia.

Born in Newark, he lived in Harrison before moving to Union Beach 33 years ago. Surviving are his wife, Theresa Watkins Baker of Keyport; two sons, Michael Baker of Keyport, and Kevin Baker of Middletown; a daughter, Adele Baker of Union Beach; two sisters, Maryland Bach of South Plainfield, and Claire Baker of Florida; and six grandchildren. Jo seph's Cemetery, Keyport. DOROTHY BLACKBURN CROOKS, 87, of Bernardsville, formerly of OCEANPORT, died Thursday, Dec. 11, at home, after a brief illness. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Born in Jersey City, she lived in Oceanport before moving to Bernardsville two years ago.

She was predeceased by a son, Clifford V. Crooks, in 1992; a sister, Ethel Westlake, in 2001; and two brothers, Frank and Donald Blackburn, several years ago. Surviving husband, Vincent L. Crooks; two sons and daughters-in-law, Donald L. and Carol A.

Crooks of Bernardsville, and Gary L. and Danielle Crooks of Boca Raton, a daughter-in-law, Pamela Crooks of Toms River; 11 grandchildren, Donald and his wife, Cara, Allyson and her husband, Richard, Casey and his wife, Kelly, Brady, Tucker, Michael, Janine, Ronnie, Thomas, Michelle and her husband, Bill, and Lana; and nine great randchildren, Ashley, Stephen, Stephanie, Samantha, Kevin, Jacqueline, Emily, Matthew and Jack. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington. MARTHA M. VOGEL KRAUSE, 92, of PINE BEACH, died Friday, Dec. 12, at Morristown Memorial Hospital, Morristown. She was a homemaker.

She was a member of the Order of Amaranth in Toms River, the Daughters of the Nile-Hiram Temple, the Eastern Star Chapter 159 in Toms River, and the Women of the Moose in Seaside Heights. Born in Livingston, she lived there for 30 years before moving to Pine Beach. She was predeceased by her husband, Stanley E. Krause. Surviving are her sons and Richard and Dorothy Krause, and David and June Krause; eight grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Thursday at QuinnHopping Funeral Home, 145 E. Mount Pleasant Livingston. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at Hanover Cemetery, Hanover Road, East Hanover.

3094 732-240-3800 EUGENE RANDOLPH MARROW 54, of FREEHOLD, died Thursday, Dec. 11, at home. He was a cook at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. He was born in Richmond, and lived in Freehold all his life. Surviving are four sisters, Darlene Marrow of Asbury Park, Josephine Hunte and Toni Jackson, both of Maryland, and Cindy Brown of Mount Holly; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews; and great nieces and -nephews.

The viewing will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Freehold. Funeral services will be held at noon Thursday at the funeral home. WILLIAM THOMAS MATTHAEY, 77, of MATAWAN, died Friday, Dec. 12, at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank.

He was employed as an environmental control officer for the Department of Defense, Earle Naval Weapons Station, for 27 years, retiring in 1994. He obtained a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering. He was a past grand knight and charter member of the Knights of Columbus, Matawan. He was a communicant of St. Clement's Roman Catholic Church, Matawan, and a volunteer for the state Special Olympics.

He served in the Army. Born in Brooklyn, he lived in Jackson Heights before moving to Matawan 47 years ago. He was predeceased by his wife, Margaret Louise Matthaey; parents, Alexander and Adele Matthaey; and a brother, Alexander Robert Matthaey. Surviving are three daughters, Suzanne Matthaey of Matawan, Janice Matthaey of Matawan, and Andrea Matthaey Dzioba of North Plainfield; four sons, Jeff Matthaey of Brick, Thomas Matthaey of Manchester, Alexander Matthaey of Colonia, and Neil Matthaey of Morgan; a sister, Joan Francischelli of Bayside, N.Y.: and eight grandchildren, William Matthaey, Cortney Matthaey, Erin Matthaey, Allyson Matthaey, Edward Matthaey, Emily Dzioba, Christopher Dzioba and Katherine Dzioba. He was manager of New York Bell Telephone, later known as NYNEX, for 34 years, retiring in 1985. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, Knights of Columbus Bayshore Council 2858, the Irish Federation of Monmouth County, A.O.H. Patrick Torphy Division 2, Monmouth County, Veteran Foreign Wars Post 4303, the Sierra Club, and Amnesty International. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy.

He was a communicant of St. Ann's Roman Catholic Church, Keansburg. He had dual citizenship with the Republic of Ireland. Born in Chicago, he lived in Keansburg for 30 years. He was predeceased by his wife, Ada Charlton McDermott, in 1999, and a son, Bryan McDermott, who died 18 years to the day before his father's death.

Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Paul Diomede of Keansburg, Patricia and James Murray of Treynor, Iowa, and Barbara and Anderson of Middletown; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Joan McDermott of Belford; a daughter-in-law and her husband, Patricia and James Ouelette of Middletown; three brothers, Joseph of Staten Island, Gerald of Fontana, John of Fairview; two sisters, Alice McDermott of Ridgefield Park, Maureen Antonetti of North Bergen; two brothers-in-law, Jackie Charlton of Riverdale, N.Y., and James Charlton of Yonkers, N.Y.; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Laurel Funeral Home, 201 Laurel West Keansburg. Funeral will be held at 9:15 a.m.

Wednesday at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:15 a.m. at St. Ann's Church. Interment will be in Fair View Cemetery, Middletown. BETTY JANE GALLAGHER, of TOMS RIVER, died Saturday, Dec.

13, at Community Medical Center, Toms River. She was a secretary for the commanding officers for 10 years at the Lakehurwt Naval Air Engineering Center retiring 25 years ago. Born in Toms River she was a lifelong resident. Surviving are a son, Patrick E. Gallagher of Toms River; a daughter Susan L.

Bisogno of Toms River; eight grandchildren, Jason, Joe Patrick III, Michael, Jessica, Benjamin, Christopher and Kimberly; and a great-grandson, Patrick IV. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Silverton Memorial Funeral Home, 2482 Church Road, Toms River. Arrive at 9:30 a.m.

Wednesday for 10 a.m. funeral services at the funeral home. PATRICK J. GOSLINE, 47, of Panama City, formerly of SURF CITY, died Thursday, Dec. 11, at Seabreeze Nursing Home, Panama City, Fla.

He was a commercial fisherman in Barnegat Light and Florida. He graduated from Southern Regional High School in 1974. He was an avid freestyle skier. He was a paraplegic for the last seven years. He was born and raised in Bristol, Pa.

Surviving are his mother and stepfather, Patricia and Charles Gerber of Surf City; his father, Jack Gosline of Palm Beach Shores, a brother and sister-in-law, John and Penny Gosline of Cedar Run; a sister, Denise Gosline of Bryn Mawr, a niece and nephew, Natalie and Matthew Gosline; an aunt, Kay Phillips of Bristol, and a cousin, Mark Phillips of Newtown, Pa. A memorial Mass will be offered at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Francis Church, Long Beach Boulevard, Brant Beach. Donations can be made to Hospice, 107 W.

19th Panama City, FL 32405. JANE AGNES "PUFFY" HARDIMAN HALEY, 73, of OCEAN GATE, died Sunday, Dec. 13, at home. She worked as a cafeteria manager for Crompton and Knowles, Fair Lawn, for many years before retiring in 1984. Born and raised in Paterson, she moved to Ocean Gate in 1983.

She was predeceased by her sister, Doris Niclaus. Surviving are her husband, William; a daughter, Leslie Bankos of Ocean Gate; and two grandchildren. WILLIAM P. "BUBBA" JENKS. 52, of Herbertsville, BRICK, died Friday, Dec. 12, at home. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the U.S.

Coast Guard. He was a 1969 graduate of Brick High School, a member of the Brick American Legion Post 348, Disabled American Veterans Carl Lamberson 20, and a member of St. Paul's Methodist Church, Herbertsville. He was and avid sportsman and loved fishing, fur trapping, and hunting. He grew up on the Manasquan River and with his late father, had a love for clamming and the outdoors.

Born in Neptune, he lived in Herbertsville most of his life. OCEAN ELAINE V. ALLEN, 69, of Whit- ing, MANCHESTER, died Saturday, Dec. 13, at home. She was a head clerk with the United Jersey Bank in Hackensack working for 22 years before retiring in 1992.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hackensack and worked with the youth program. She was also a member of the Whiting Bible Church, Whiting. Born in Teaneck, she lived in Wyckoff before moving to Crestwood Village, Whiting, three years ago. Surviving are her husband of 47 years, David E. Allen; two daughters and a son-in-law, Judy Ann and the Rev.

Douglas Kranenburg of Sidney, Ohio, and Jane Allen of St. Petersburg, a son, Kenneth D. Allen of Whiting; a brother, Ronald Staso of Whiting; a sister, Anna Gartside of Fort Pierce, five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Whiting Bible Church.

No. 3646 LILLIAN E. DERRIG BEALE, 77, of Pelican Island, BERKELEY, died Saturday, Dec. 13, at Southern Ocean County Hospital, Stafford. She was a 1947 graduate of Elizabeth General Hospital School of Nursing, Elizabeth.

Born in Linden, she moved to Pelican Island 55 years ago. She was predeceased by three brothers, Arthur, Edward and Lawrence; and a sister, Dorothy Joback. Surviving are her husband of 55 years, William H. Beale; three sons, John C. of Florida, Mark W.

of North Carolina, and David D. of Elmwood Park; one daughter, Karen J. Hannon of Oceanport; five sisters, Helen Lintur of Linden, Eleanor Magee of Rahway, Lucy F. Derrig of Linden, Julia Williamson of Virginia, and Ruth Bondonis of Piscataway; and 10 grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m.

She was a homemaker, a former member of Pascack Reformed Church, Park Ridge, and a member of Pinelands Reformed Church, Toms River. Born in Jersey City, she lived in Woodcliff for many years before moving to Holiday City several years ago. She was predeceased by her husband, Birger Bernsten. Surviving are her daughters, Karen Bratt of Florida, and Noreen Bernsten of Toms River; a granddaughter, Amy Bradley; a grandson, Joseph Bratt IV; a brother, Burton Zicker of Westwood; and a sister, Caroline Borders of Pennsylvania. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m.

Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Toms River, and a member of Toms River American Legion Post 129. He was a veteran of the Marine Corps. Born in Montclair, he lived in Barnegat before moving to Toms River 19 years ago. Surviving are his wife of 28 years, Peggy White Lennon; a daughter, Jennifer Lennon of Toms River; two sisters, Theresa Shanagher of Bedminster, and Betty Gallagher of Cedar Grove. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m.

Cremation will be private. JOSEPH MARTINO, 74, of POINT PLEASANT BEACH, died Saturday, Dec. 13, at Community Medical Center, Toms River. He worked for many years at McGraw Edison, Edison, Peter Pan Records, Lakewood, and the Sea Shell Guest House, Point Pleasant. He loved fishing, the beach and sports and was an avid Giants fan.

He will be remembered for his sense of humor and his knack for a good story. Born in Newark, he lived in the first ward there before moving in 1962 to Toms River, where he enjoyed. Surviving are two daughters, Jo-Ann Everett of Toms River, and Donna Barnett of Pine Beach; a son, Louis Martino of Hoboken; two sisters, Louise Liotti of Delran, and Carmella Grillo of Edison; and four grandchildren, Lauren Everett, and Luke, Sam and Nicholas Martino. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, and 9 to 10:30 a.m.
