He was a member of the American Nuclear Society and the Mathematical Association of America. He loved crabbing, playing the clarinet, and listening to big-band music. He was born in Perth Amboy and was a 1954 graduate of Perth Amboy High School.

He later lived in Toms River for many years before Worth of Bayville, Berkeley; his nieces and nephews, Mary and Clifford Frayne of Brick, Irene and Michael Harris of Georgia, George and Karyl Gildersleeve of Georgia, Patricia Philips of Texas, and Robert Gildersleeve of Virginia; and several grand-nieces and grandnephews. Visiting hours will be 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Mastapeter Funeral Home, 270 Route 9, Bayville. A Funeral Liturgy will be offered 10 a.m. Monday at St.

Barnabas Church, Bayville. Interment will be private. for 14 years, and was State Police chaplain in Connecticut. He was in charge of the after-care breavement program at Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals.

He was a World War Army veteran with the rank of private first class, serving in the 334th Field Artillery Battalion. He was a 1950 graduate of Gordon College, Boston, with a degree in theology. Born in Bellingham, he lived in Bridgeport, and Gaithersburg, before moving to Berkeley in 1987. Surviving are his wife. Elinor JAMES FRANCIS DAND0RPH, 72, of toms RIVER, died Wednesday at Community Medical Center, Toms River.

He was a maintenance supervisor at Lever Edgewa-ter, for 30 years, retiring in 1981. He was a member of American Legion Post 166, and Veteran Foreign Wars McDowell Post, North Bergen. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the South Pacific. Born in Gutten-berg, he lived there before moving to Toms River 18 years ago. Surviving are two daughters, Sharon Haase of Guttenberg, and Kellie Vernola of East Rutherford; a son, James Dandorph of Toms River; three sisters, Barbara Donnelly of West New York, Mae Meddo of New Egypt, Plumsted, and Margaret Friery of North Bergen; a brother, Edward Dandorph of Weehawken; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Born in Brooklyn, he lived in Jersey City for many years before moving to Berkeley in 1986. CARROL C. CERRONI, 78, of POINT PLEASANT, died Jan. 5 at Burnt Tavern Convalescent Center.

He was a train conductor at Jersey Central Railroad, Bay Head, for 40 years, retiring in 1983. He was a World War II Army veteran and a communicant of St. Martha's Church, Point Pleasant. Born in New York, he lived there before moving to Point Pleasant 20 years ago. His wife, Margaret Gerrity Cerroni, died in 1999.

Surviving are two daughters, Alice Cawein of Williston Park, N.Y., and Jeanne Hayman of Yorktown, a brother, Jerry Cerroni of Arizona; a sister, Mary Cerroni of Montauk Point, N.Y.; five grandchildren; and seven greatgrandchildren. ROBERT L. "BOBBY" CYR, 79, of Port Charlotte, formerly of Forked River, LACEY, died Monday at Bon Secours-St. Joseph Hospital, Port Charlotte. He was a superintendent in construction before retiring. He was a Catholic, practicing in several local churches in the Port Char are two sons, John V.

FIGARO 64, died of Swansboro, N.C., formerly of BRICK, died Tuesday from complications of heart surgery. A longtime resident of Brick, she moved to Swansboro 12 years ago. She was predeceased by a son, Brian P. Figaro, on Nov. 26th; and a sister, Betty Smith.

Surviving are her husband, William S. Figaro; two sons, William B. Figaro of Salem, and Scott D. Figaro of New" Bern; two brothers, William Haskins of Brick, and John Haskins of As-bury Park; two sisters, Rita Murphy of Brick, and Trudy Sintic of Oakhurst, Ocean Township; eight grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and she lived in Keansburg and in Ocean Township before moving to. New Rochelle in March.

Her husband, Louis, died in 1994. Surviving are three sons, Joseph Jr. of Toms River, Louis Jr. of Boca Raton, and Charles P. of Manchester; a daughter, Clara LoBello of New Rochelle, N.Y.; a brother, Gabriel Surach of Jersey City; three sisters, Antoinette Bellotti of Smithville.

Connie De Simone daughter-in-law, Ralph and Nancy Santoro, and William Santoro, all of Tenafly; a sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Tom Schember of Allenhurst; and two grandchildren, Craig TenBroeck, and Frank Ebel. She was the owneroperator of Katherine's Alterations, Fourth Street, Lake-wood, for more than 20 years, retiring in 1985.

PANELLA, 52, of JACKSON, died Wednesday at Kimball Medical Center, Lake-wood. He was a self-employed automobile businessman for 20 years. He was a member of the Jackson Republican Club, and an avid motorcycle enthusiast.

Born in Newark, he lived in Middlesex for many years before moving to Jackson 12 years ago. Surviving are his wife, Beverly Ferrigno-Panella; a daughter, Rozanna Serago-Marinho of Jackson; a half sister, Liola Campitelli of Bound Brook; and a grandson, James Marinho. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

THE REV. JOSEPH E. POULIOT, 77, of Silver Rige Park North, BERKELEY, died Wednesday at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune. He was ordained a Baptist minister in 1950 at Stratfield Baptist Church, Fairfield, Conn. He was executive director of the Goodwill Industries of America, Bridgeport, and executive vice president of Goodwill Industries of America in Washington, D.C.

He retired in 1987. He received the first Kenneth King Award in 1972, and the Helms Award in 1987 for outstanding contributions to the Spiritual Dimension for Goodwill Industries. He was honored at the 1987 Delegate Assembly in Oklahoma City for his service to the National Movement and for 36 years in Goodwill. He served as chaplain of the Adair Chapel at the national office. In 1992, he was inducted into the Goodwill Hall of Fame.

On his retirement he received a personal letter from former President Reagan, commending him for his service to the President's Committee and to the disabled of the country. He served as chaplain of the Bridgeport Police Department nity Medical Center, Toms River, after a long illness. He was a self-employed building contractor, owning and operating Gilder Builders Inc. in Ocean County for many years, retiring three years ago. He started the early development of the Baywood section of Brick.

He also built the first clubhouse at Atlantis in fickerton, now a county golf course. He restored the Berkeley Township Historical Museum, which opened in 1985, to its original 1890 facade. He was a World War II Navy veteran, serving in the Pacific. He received a citation and Air Medal from the president for combat missions. He was a 1951 graduate of Seton Hall College.

He was a member of the Toms River Country Club and the club's golf champion in 1976. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council, Brick. Born in Elizabeth, he lived in Brick before moving to Toms River 40 years ago. He was predeceased by his parents, Webster and Bridget Gildersleeve; and two brothers, Robert and George. Surviving are his companion, Katherine engineering and management of nuclear power stations.

Most recently, his was an ESP trainer with Fermi Nuclear Generating Station, Monroe, last year, He held a senior reactor operator license and a second-class engineering license. He formerly taught mathematics at Brookdale Community College, Sussex County College, Raritan Valley Community College, and at The Stockton State College of New Jersey. He was a 1954 graduate of Perth Amboy High School. He was a 1974 graduate of Rutgers Univesity, New Brunswick, with a bachelor's degree in mathematics, and a 1986 graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson STERNSHEIN Charles Of Middle-town NJ, on Jan 11, 2001. Beloved husband of Sally (nee) Lubin; devoted father of Michael Sternsh-ein, Lynne Sternshein Iris Froeh-lich; dear brother of Harry Sternshein Dora Ball; loving grandfather of 11, and great grandfather of 10.
