Parrish drove in four runs with two home runs and went 4 for 4 to lead California. "I told him (Finley) when he came up the first time tonight I was going to hit one where he couldn't get it," said Parrish. "I don't know if it was fate, or what." Perez, 23, did to Ryan and the Texas Rangers last night what Ryan, 43, did to him and the White Sox last week. Perez (2-2) had a no-hitter until the sixth inning and struck out 10 in Chicago's 5-1 victory. The younger brother of Pascual Perez must have learned something from the last time he faced Ryan. That was Thursday in Texas when Ryan (4-1) pitched a one-hitter and struck out 16 in a 1-0 victory. "This time I get him," Perez said.

Perez allowed only two hits in 7 Mi innings as the White Sox won their fifth in a row, rocking Ryan for five runs in the first inning. Ryan, who gave up three hits and three walks in the first inning, allowed only one other hit and one more walk before leaving after six innings. He struck out eight. "For some reason it took me an inning to get it together," said Ryan. "I didn't have command of any of my pitches in the first inning.

In the second inning I went to my fastball to get ahead of the hitters. But give Perez the credit. I would have had to be almost perfect to beat him." Jeff Huson singled with one out in the sixth for the first hit off Perez, and the shutout was lost in the eighth on a walk and a run-scoring double by Huson. Athletics 4 Yankees 2 NEW YORK Mike Gallego, in a l-for-31 slump, hit a two-run double in the sixth inning as Oakland beat New York. CLEVELAND Glenallen Hill expected to be a platoon player this season.

But after he homered, doubled and scored twice in Toronto's victory against Cleveland, Manager Cito Gaston said it might not be that way for long. "If he continues to play like he is now, he'll be right up there. He's swinging the bat great." Hill hit a two-run homer, his third of the season and second in two nights, to give the Blue Jays a 3-0 lead in the fourth inning. He doubled leading off the seventh and scored on Junior Felix' double. Hill has hit .435 in the past six games.
