In Keansburg' offense, that should work fine. Coach Jon Schultheis' Titans reached the postseason the last two seasons, but a beefed-up schedule looms. Along with super tailback Billy Shea, QB Tom Dura will be key to Titans returning to playoffs By DON WILNO STAFF WRITER he most important name on the Keansburg roster is Billy Shea.

quarterback's mentality. He's very confident in his abilities. We think he'll do fine." Said Schultheis, "and we're going to ask Tommy to do more this year. Last year, the first year he played quarterback, we ran 10 plays. That's all we had in the offense.

We wanted to make sure that he could do what he asked. "This year, we're throwing the whole load on his shoulders. This is it This is our system. We feel it's tailored to him. We're not asking him to do anything we don't think he can do." Said Dura, who just turned 17, "for any quarterback, this is the best position to be in." looks in our offense, like the rollout, counter, naked bootlegs all to get me out away from the core.

"They don't want me to be a typical quarterback," said Dura, who has his eyes on Lehigh, Maryland and Boston University next year. "I'll probably end up running for 1,000 (yards) rather than throwing for 1,000." Dura stepped into the job last season after an injury left the Titans with no one else. He has a "Craig Palmer, who is our offensive coordinator, worked with him a little bit over the summer," said Schultheis. "He lifted weights when he could. Physically he's grown, he's matured. He watched some film with Craig, who is our quarterback coach. We just tried to have him understand the basics before we started officially practicing." Making the NJSIAA playoffs the last two seasons certainly sets the table for this season.

He has to know a lot more, read a lot more and, certainly, he has this preseason and last year under his belt" Ideally, it would have been nice if Schultheis had the opportunity to spend time developing his quarterback. Circumstances just did not permit it "Honestly, we couldn't do a lot," he said.

The reason? Dura also plays basketball and baseball and spent the summer on a lifeguard stand with who else? Billy Shea. "I think they worked on the same (lifeguard) stand for a while," said Schultheis, "so I'm sure they did some talking. Or is it? How about Tom Dura? The 5-foot-9, 165-pound senior quarterback is going to play a key role in the Titans' success. "Tommy Dura is the kid who has to pull the trigger for the whole offense," said coach Jon Schultheis. "Yes, our offense surrounds me," said Dura.
