No charges have been filed pending further investigation and questioning of the girl, police said. They added she would probably be able to be questioned today or tomorrow.

The First Aid Squad took her to the hospital after she was pulled out of the ocean about 8 p.m. Saturday. Police said the girl was conscious when Seaman James Whitaker, of the Manasquan Coast Guard Station, rescued her. According to police, the girl, fully clothed, walked into the ocean off Central avenue after telling her friends she was "going to do herself in." One of her companions told a special policemen patrolling the boardwalk of their friend's plans. At the request of police here, the Coast Guard dispatched a boat to the area and approached the girl from the water.

Seaman Whitaker dove from the boat and brought the girl to shore. Lt. Harry Folk and Special Officers Paul Di Corcia and James Wofersbergcr are investigating. In an editorial In its weekend editions, the newspaper said it considered the GOP primary the more "crucial" of the two because of the possibility that U.S. Rep. Charles W. Sandman might win the nomination "and thus be a general election away from his heart's desire a matchless opportunity to return New Jersey to the stone age," The editorial urged "Republicans dedicated to a viable and progressive party" to follow the lead of the state's last Republican governor, Alfred E. Driscoll, and of "the state's leading ReDublican," U.S.

Sen. Clifford P. Case, in backing Cahill. It called Cahill a "moderate and urban-oriented congressman." On the Democratic side, The Trentonian called Helstoski "a tough-minded liberal." It said he "has fashioned a record of accomplishment that appeals to Republicans as well as Democrats, having won five primaries and eight general elections in a GOP-dominated area Bergen County." "Democrats demanding new approaches to paralyzing problems should think, and think again, before voting against him," the paper said. The editorial said it appeared that former Gov.

Robert B. Meyner was a "shoe-in" to win the Democatic nomination and added that he "put together a commendable record during his eight years in office." However, it said Helstoski "would bring a fresh approach and a hunger for challenge that Bob Meyner would be hard put to match." The paper did not mention the other three Republican or other four Democratic candidates. Fine Weather Brings Many To the Shore Beaches and boardwalks along the Shore area were jammed with visitors throughout the holiday weekend. In Belmar, police worked on 12-hour shifts beginning on Friday morning, and didn't slack off until last night. Police reported 67 arrests were made for disorderly conduct and 225 motor vehicle summonses were issued in the borough.

Asbury Park Beach Supervisor William Bruno estimated between 75,000 and 100,000 people thronged the beach and Boardwalk in an attempt to escape the heat. Upwards of 10,000 visitors were estimated in Long Branch, where beaches were crowded almost to capacity. Overflow crowds were reported in Manasquan, Point Pleasant Beach, and Sea Bright. Keansburg beaches were jammed, one spokesman said, but crowd problems were few. HOLIDAY From Page 1 fire and six other drownings.

A drowning accident on the a Schuyykill River in Muhlenberg Township near Reading, claimed the life of another Jerseyan, 14-year-old Allan Heffley, Jerses City. Good weather brought large crowds onto highways, heading for beaches and parks in the Garden State. Traffic was reported heavy across the nation. Two of the worst accidents happened Saturday night. Seven persons were killed and one injured in a head-on collision in Spanish Fork Canyon, Utah.

Seven others died and three were critically injured in North Carolina. In additon to traffic fatalities, 33 persons died in boating mishaps and 181 drowned in accidents in which boats were not involved. The Memorial Day weekend last year claimed 14 lives in New Jersey. IOr.1 M-tlruct. ti lol A.

FBI Probes School ROTC Bomb Blast ANN ARBOR, Mich.W) An FBI bomb squad flew to Ann Arbor from Washington today to investigate a bomb blast last night that destroyed an Army staff car and damaged the building which houses the University of Michigan ROTC program.

No one was injured. Ray Hoagland, FBI resident agent in Ann Arbor, said a powerful explosive was placed under the gas tank of the car, which was parked alongside North Hall. The car was demolished and parts of it were thrown as far as 60 feet. The blast blew out several windows in the building and knocked down a small part of a brick wall. There was no estimate of damage, but structural damage to the 65-year-old building apparently was slight.

A fire followed the explosion, but was localized and quickly extinguished by firemen. The wrecked car was assigned to Col. H. K. Reynolds, director of the Army ROTC program.

The building was empty at the time. No ROTC classes are held during the university's current summer session. Be open a Checkmaster account No minimum balance required Servict is our biggttt CENTRAL JERSEY BANK esiri Tmxn' COMBiNV Shore RALPH C. HART JR. Airman RALPH C.
