"JACK" BURKARD, 75, of Wanamassa, OCEAN TOWNSHIP, died Wednesday at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune.

He worked in sales at Sears Roebuck, Asbury Park and Ocean Township, for 25 years, retiring in 1974. He was a World War II Marine Corps veteran and a Purple Heart recipient. He was a member of the First Amphibious Tractor Battalion of the First Marine Division, which participated in combat operations on Guadalcanal and the British Solomon Islands in 1942. He participated in the reunion of the First Amphibious Tractor Battalion. He was Scout master of Troop 96, Asbury Park and the Sea Scouts, Ocean Township.

He was regional director of AARP and very active in that organization. He was a member of Disabled American Veterans Chapter 37, Asbury Park; VFW Oakhurst Post 2226; and the Toastmaters, Asbury Park. He was a former member of Knights of Columbus 816, Asbury Park. He was a communicant of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Deal.

Born in Jersey City, he moved to Wanamassa in 1953. His grandson, Airman Alvin Copeland died in 1998. Surviving are his former wife, Doris M. Burkard of Lincroft; five sons, Jack R. Burkard of Freehold, James J.

Burkard of Eatontown, Jerry D. Burkard and Jason J. Burkard, both of Wanamassa, and Jeffrey G. Burkard of Eatontown; three daughters, Janet M. Springsteel of Easton, Judy D.

Burkard of Long Branch and Jennifer J. Copeland of Asbury Park; a brother, Martin Ruby of Toms River; a sister, Dolores Bigalke of Hampton, 15 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Friends may call 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Buckley Funeral Home, 509 Second Asbury Park.

The funeral party will leave the funeral home 9:30 a.m. Monday for a Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, Deal. Interment will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Neptune.

Before retirement, he was the owner of Survival Technologies Group a designer and manufacturer of marine safety equipment. Born in East Orange, he lived in Shrewsbury before moving to Jupiter, 18 years ago. A daughter, Linda Burr, died in March. Surviving are his wife, Marilyn Burr; two daughters, Alison Burr of Dayton, Ohio, and Stacey Middleton Swain of Palm Beach Gardens, two granddaughters, Megan Schweers and Erin Schweers; and two grandsons, Kelsey and J.P. Middleton.

Born in New York City, he lived there before moving to Highlands 27 years ago. He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Margaret Kinsella. Surviving are his wife, Alice Keenan Kinsella; four sons, Francis H. Kinsella Jr. of New York City, John Kinsella of Highlands and Joseph and Michael Kinsella, both of Cape Canaveral, four daughters, Debra Caizza of Highland Lakes, Mary Alice Kinsella of Hazlet and Margaret Mary Kinsella and Susan Ann Lubrano both of Highlands; three brothers, John and Arthur Kinsella of St.

She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church, Manasquan, its senior usher ministries, women's ministries and the Seacoast Ushers Association. Her father, James E. Clark died in 1997; and her sister Karen Clark, died in 1994. Surviving are her husband, Joseph Malone; a son, Sean Smith of Omaha, a daughter, Michelle, at home; her mother, Virginia Clark of South Belmar; two sisters, Sharon Clark Owens of South Belmar and Sheila McCullough of Stanhope; and two brothers, Norman Clark of Germany and James E. Clark Jr.

She was a graduate of Rutgers University with a bachelor of arts degree. She was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Red Bank.

Born in Newark, she lived in Maplewood before moving to Shadow Lake Village, Middletown, 17 years ago. She was predeceased by her parents, Theodore Grimm, D.D.M., and Anne Ashmead Grimm. surviving are two sons, Theodore Paul Rigo of O'Fallon, and John Matthews Rigo of New York City; two daughters, Paula Rigo of Bound Brook and Jan Dudley of Inwood, Long Island, N.Y.; and six grandchildren. Graveside funeral services will be 10 a.m. today at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown.

John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Red Bank, is in charge of arrangements. RUGER E. RUTT, 58, of Port Monmouth, MIDDLETOWN TOWNSHIP, died yesterday at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. He was a road supervisor with the Middletown Public Works Department for 25 years, retiring in 1997.

Born in Port Monmouth, he was a lifelong resident there. Surviving are his wife, Gertrude Mc Kinney Rutt; three sons, Charles Rutt of Mount Airy, N.C., Roger Rutt of Aberdeen and Robert Rutt of Port Monmouth; three daughters, Lauri McCann of Hazlet, Brenda Kennard of Belford and Karen Rutt of Port Monmouth; two Neil and Warren Rutt, both of Port Monmouth; and: a grandson, Daniel Rutt. He was a member of Steamfitter Local 638, New York City, for 30 years, retiring in 1982. He was an active member of Matawan Borough Little League and was a federated umpire. He was chairman and later recreation commissioner of Matawan Borough from 1985 to 1994, overseeing the Memorial Day parades and holiday events in Matawan. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of St.

Clement's Roman Catholic Church, Matawan, and a member of the Holy Name Society and the choir of the church. Born in Manhattan, he grew up in Flushing, N.Y., and lived in Brooklyn before moving to Matawan 30 years ago. ROBERT M. "BUDDY" WATERS 83, of HIGHLANDS, died Tuesday at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. He was a painter for the federal government at Fort Hancock before retiring. He was a World War II Army veteran. He was a member of St.

Andrew the Apostle Episcopal Church and American Legion Post 143, and the Republican Club, and past commodore of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6902, all in Highlands. He was a former borough councilman in Highlands, was appointed commissioner of Highlands Housing Authority in 1980 and was reappointed by the governor in 1985, serving another 10 years. Born in Highlands, he was a lifelong resident here. He was predeceased by his wife, Augusta W. Waters, in 1986.

Surviving are three sons, Robert M. Richard and Ronald Waters, all of Highlands; three brothers, Harvey Waters of North Middletown, Edward O'Neil of Atlantic Highlands and William O'Neil of Highlands; three sisters, Doris Shannon of Laurens, N.Y., and Mae Rugg and Barbara Andrews, both of Highlands; 10 grandchildren; and several greatgrandchildren. WENBERG, 48, of Portland, formerly of HAZLET, died Wednesday at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Philadelphia, Pa. He was a maintenance mechanic with Allied Signal, Freehold, for several years, and owned Shady Acres Campground in Portland, Pa. He was a member of the National Rifle Association. Born in Geneva, he lived in Hazlet for 20 years before moving to Portland, last year. Surviving are his wife, Donna Allen Wenburg; two sons, Terry Wenberg of Eatontown and Daniel Le Rose of Portland, three daughters, Dawn Wenberg of Eatontown, Deidre Le Rose of Keansburg and Victoria Johnson of Portland, a brother, William Wenberg of Wisconsin; and four grandchildren.
