Dan Dornecker ran for one touchdown and passed to Ray Gendoli for another as Brick Township rolled past Manasquan. Second-half touchdowns 'by Gendoli and Bob Mangold on a 12-yard pass from Brian Ziembra secured Brick's fifth triumph. Touchdowns by Joe Slevin and Jim Ault erased an 11-0 deficit and carried Toms River to its fourth triumph. The loss was the first of the season for Point Pleasant.

The Elks grabbed an 11-0 lead in the first quarter on Scott Sherman's 50-yard run and Mike Millar's 33-yard field goal. Millar added a two-point conversion. Carl Morris ran for two touchdowns with a blocked punt and an interception and booted four two-point conversion kicks as St. Joseph's trimmed winless Freehold. Bob Mangold scored with a blocked punt and passed 50 yards to Bob Dickson for two TDs while Dave Budd added a fifth touchdown on a three-yard plunge.

Touchdowns by Keith Coleman, Robbie Falks, and Troy Newlan in the fourth quarter lifted Neptune past Howell. Randy Radecki passed to Glenn Beres and Mike Henry and kicked a pair of conversions to give Howell a 16-6 lead. Tony Richardson scored for Neptune in the first quarter. Middletown parlayed a pair of first-quarter touchdowns into its fourth victory. Joe Marotta ran 50 yards and Steve Parrish recovered a block punt in the end zone.

Mark Slate, Joe John Johnson, and Gary Skowronski added one touchdown apiece for the Eagles. A 59-yard touchdown run by Robert Taylor in the fourth quarter secured Ocean Township's victory over Hazlet, its third of the season. Frank Fodoraro ran 96 yards and Bob Kliner passed to Greg Coles to give Ocean a 7-0 lead in the sec-ond quarter. Tom Witchel scored on a three-yard plunge for Hazlet in the third. A 30-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Jeff Dennis to Evan Makason in the final minute of play earned Long Branch its tie with Marlboro.

Belmar's Scott Suydan ran the second-half kickoff 65 yards for a touchdown and Belmar held on for its tie with Southern. Southern took a 6-0 lead in the second quarter when Mark Lawrence passed 35 yards to Tyrone Jordan for the touchdown. Brian Zedalis and Brian Evans both ran for two touchdowns and Mark Rai-mondo added three conversion kicks to lead Jackson past Fort Monmouth. Joe Stroffolino fell on a blocked punt in the end zone for Fort Monmouth's only touchdown. A 50-yard touchdown run by Tony DeAndrea and a two-point conversion kick by Dave Adamo in the first quarter sparked Wall past New Egypt.

New Egypt pulled to win one point late in the first quarter but Wall added an insurance TD in the fourth, Tony Brinson scored six touchdowns and a point after as Berkeley Township annihilated Lacey Township for its fourth win. Two Lopsided Wins Don't Excite Hudson Both Toms River and Brick Township extended their unbeaten records to 4-Q Brick crushed Manasquan, 30-0, yesterday and Point Pleasant slipped out of the three-way deadlock into second place, a game back. Meanwhile, Wall and Jackson moved ever so closer to their impending Oct. 19 showdown in the South. Wall (3-0) outlasted New Egypt, 14-7, and Jackson (4-0) crushed Fort Monmouth. 20-0, last Saturday, is another mentor trying to attack one game at a time.

Says Mosca, "Our game this week against Keansburg should go a long way in determining the outcome of Class D. It'll be a big obstacle out of the way if we can beat them, but I doubt, very much, whether one game is going to settle this thing." Inexperience is the basic reason why Hudson and Edick aren't getting too excited about their teams' performances so far in the young season, while Mosca is a firm believer in, to alter a Yogi Berraism, you don't have it until you have it. Asbury Park has just seven seniors on its roster. Hudson will find out this week whether his sophomores and juniors are ready to contend with the Manasquans and Red Banks of Class C. Hudson doesn't have a senior on his defensive line, while the sophs and juniors have been playing a big part in the offfense also.

Quarterback Tim White (soph) and halfback Reggie Butler (junior) have accounted for career was coming to an end, but John didn't care. "I was only staying with them so I wouldn't breach my contract," said Villapiano. "I hadn't seen a paycheck in a month and a half and my wife was in Houston. Besides, I never really had the intense urge to play professional football." Villapiano claims the World Football League still owes him $11,435, of which he has yet to be paid a penny and is thus contemplating legal action. But the end of the football trail was not the end for Villapiano, now working in Houston as an industrial salesman for Crawford Fitting Company of Cleveland.

"Not playing pro football doesn't bother me at all," said Villapiano. "I went to college to get a business degree, not a football degree. "I actually had a dream to play professional baseball.

My baseball coach in high school George Spillane told me to make a decision (football or baseball), and then stick tp it. He was certainly a big influence on me. He had a lot more insight into life than most high school coaches." He made his decision, and Vallipiano accepted a football scholarship to Bowling Green. He never looked back. Now Villapiano finds competition in his work.

"I really love my job," he said. "The company is a fine organization and in a way I am still competing.
