Today good food is no accident Owner of eating places invest in nameless electric cooking and other electric appliances to help provide the very best in comfort and service to their guests. This symbol of the red electric cooking unit with Reddy Kilowatt chef designates restaurants and luncheonettes making a full use of modern electricity. "The Smothers Brothers," new Friday night comedy series, has brother Tom as an angel returning to earth to perform good deeds. Hero is angel Tom as a motor bike rider being put down by brother Dick, a successful executive. "I still don't know. 4T THE OF TH! $90 Now Tom is a pretty bad angel. He can disappear, but he doesn't even do this very well. He leaves shoes and other incriminating evidence behind. And he is constantly being pestered by Ralph, the angel supervisor who is never seen but nags Tom constantly- The series premise has a certain similarity to an old Robert Montgomery movie about an angel who came back as a prize fighter, and it makes use of the disappearing act used so successfully on "Bewitched" and "My Favorite Martian," so the ingredients appear to be durable and time tested.

At the moment the main problem is to make actors out of the comic brothers whose style even Jack Paar couldn't define on their first "Tonight" show. "I've never i me a-at RACS HUT But confidence is ebbing back into the brothers' bones. Producers have changed, strong actors are brought in to ease the load and writers are beginning to find out what the boys are like. "There was too much of us in the early episodes," said Dick. We don't have to be inseparable.

We're doing a show right now using a lot of tramps, and they're fine actors like Edward Andrews and J. Pat O'Malley. Andrews can read a line and everything's different." On stage the brothers used to sing a little and then talk, but in the angel series the guitar twanging is out. However, the brothers will open each episode with a three-minute stand up routine where they talk about the evening's predicament in thir own odd and funny way. Then, they boom on into the plot.

"This way we can gently nudge viewers into the situation comedy and not overly confuse our followers," said Dick. With that both brothers ran for their bicycles to return to the stage and another afternoon lesson in acting. ner wi'h girls. Bit! I was coming on too strong in the beginning.
